Harvest 2026 is done! We picked Montepulciano this evening for Cove Mesa Vineyard. Where are the pictures or video, you ask? We were so busy picking that we couldn't take any.

We're getting a strong response to Michele "Emess'em" Moore's "The Twig" on the 2025 Rosé. But lead times on the next label are long, so it is time to call for art for the 2026 Rosé.

Are you an Arizona artist who wants a painting on that label? You and the art both need to be in Arizona. Bright, friendly colors. Beyond that, anything is possible.

If you have visited the vineyard, you have probably heard me say this is a hobby that got completely out of control. That is not a line. It is what happened.

Seventeen years ago I bottled this in my kitchen. The grapes came mostly from three small hobby vineyards in the lower desert. I called it Pseudo Tuscan, a blend of Italian and Bordeaux varieties. I still think it was a good vintage.

Making w**e down there was a different job than the one we do now. Color and tannin did not come easy. I used every tool I had. At Laramita Cellars we stay out of the way and let the vintage and the site show up in the glass. I do not regret the earlier version. It is how I learned what to leave alone.

A few bottles are left. They are probably past their best. I may open one at a club event anyway.

Since this is National Pinot Noir Day it seems appropriate to give you some important updates on our Pinot Noir w**es.
- The 22 vintage is drinking better than ever! Herbal and forest floor characteristics are giving way to more typical high-toned red fruit flavors. Just a couple of bottles remain for our Reserve club members.
- The 23 vintage continues to drink like a classic Pinot Noir. A few cases remain.
- The 24 and 25 vintage will be bottled soon. Stay tuned for more details.
- One year out of five we give the Pinot Noir vines a break from the Crop Forcing technique we use to produce a cool climate style of Pinot, and this was that year. So the fruit was used for our 2026 rosé and a "chillable red" for our Jumping Cholla label.

We continue to be enthusiastic about what Pinot Noir can do in this unlikely environment.

The 22 Pinot Noir may be our best yet. A classic Burgundian-style Pinot.

Harvest is off to a very early start this year. We picked Chardonnay for our friends over at Aridus Tuesday and we picked Pinot Noir for our own Rosé this morning. Next up, Roussanne for Old Pueblo.
