As a community of farmers who responsibly steward their land, hold high standards for animal welfare, and feed our immediate communities, Friends of Family Farmers and its program, the Oregon Pasture Network, are strongly opposed to IP28.

IP28 is a proposed Oregon ballot initiative that would effectively criminalize farming of food animals in the state by classifying their slaughter as aggravated assault.

Unfortunately, the signature collectors lead with let’s end animal cruelty (which we all agree with) and fail to mention this would actually create an opportunity for large scale, industrial agriculture to take the place of Oregon farmers on grocery store shelves. Withholding the real consequences of this petition has allowed them to collect almost enough signatures to put it on the ballot.

Please help spread the word to NOT SIGN THE IP28 PETITION!

That's from a 1943 Jamesway ad. Not our words — theirs. And they're talking about Ginger Rogers' Guernsey dairy in Eagle Point, Oregon.

Read that last number again. An Oscar-winning actress. In the middle of World War II. Running raw milk bacteria counts that would make most inspectors nod today.

Snow Day #4. It has stopped storming and blue sky’s are showing. Snow is starting to melt down, a few more warm days and stockpiled grass will start showing itself, much to the pleasure of the grazing cattle.
