Premium wool in a palette of natural colors - by the ounce, pound, full fleece, or on the hoof - brought to you by happy Shetland sheep living the good life in the Siskiyou mountains of southern Oregon. We do our best to be a healthy part of our community and the natural world around us. The sheep enjoy their pastures during the day and are kept near the barn at night to be safe from predators. Th
ey are shorn at the time of natural shedding, to minimize stress and discomfort. The lambs are halter trained and taught to be unafraid of being handled so that health care procedures are not so frightening. They repay us in kind with their friendliness and cheerful play. Shetland sheep are a primitive Heritage breed, made small, hardy, and wooly by thousands of years on an island in the north Atlantic. These little animals produce lovely fleece for spinning, crafts, doll hair and fine art. Their wool is very soft, and is given to us in a palette of natural colors, from white, to cream, fawn, chocolate brown, pure black, silvery grey, red/gold, and mixed colors. Fiber types range from extremely soft to medium, crimpy, wavy, and extra-long. This luscious wool is a hand-spinner's dream, and is available in any amount that works for you. A pound of wool fills a paper grocery sack, moderately packed. Let us know what you need, and if you'd like to see samples. Sheep are occasionally available; for handspinner flocks, as pets, and as purebred, registered breeding stock.
