Mama hen and her two babies. πŸ₯ πŸ₯

This is their first day out of the coop. Mama is doing such a great job keeping them safe. The chicks are a mix of my favorite two breeds. They are pretty cute and I can't wait to see how they feather out!

πŸ’™ The Blue Coop blue 🩡

We purchased this coop when it was grey; nonetheless, I always thought of it as the blue coop, knowing it would be repainted blue eventually. This coop is home to my Ameraucana chickens that lay blue eggs, which reinforced the name "the blue coop". This weekend, the coop was finally painted, and I love the result! 😍

I really enjoy watching the chickens forage. It is actually very relaxing for me. Their colors are striking against the green all around them.

Fresh salad for the flock!

I mowed the lawn yesterday. Our "new to us" mower has a bag attachment, which means I can easily dump the clippings into the chicken runs. Our lawn is a lot less grass and a lot more beneficial weeds, flowers and herbs. Especially in our front yard. The chickens will eat some of the greens and scratch out any bugs that may be hiding in there. A lot of it will get spread around and become dry bedding. And it smells amazing!

Pita Pinta rooster.

He is so pretty, I just love the pita pinta feather pattern. He is a huge bird, but so gentle. Here he is calling his ladies and dancing for them.

My morning walk out to the coops. It's so peaceful and relaxing out here. Just the sounds of chickens and wild birds. I love this time of day!

Good morning! 🌞
