Mead is one of the most historic fermented drinks found on Earth with the creativity of craft beer and the elegance of wine. It is created by fermenting sugars found in honey with additional herbs, spices, and fruits added to create unique flavors. Our meads typically have an ABV of 11% to 14% and range from dry to sweet, with beautiful clarity and color. Since mead is mostly an unfamiliar drink,

Raise a glass to Rioja!

Join us THIS THURSDAY, July 30, at 6:30 PM for our next Discover Wine experience as we explore the celebrated wines of Rioja, Spain.

Our in-house wine educator, Kenny Bumbaco, will guide you through a curated selection of five to six wines, accompanied by a small cheese plate and crackers.

Two mead releases, live music, lobster and food specials, all this Saturday at Silver Hand!

Once upon a summertime…

Long before calendars were rewritten and traditions reshuffled, the first Saturday of August was known far and wide as National Mead Day. And while the official date may have shifted, here at Silver Hand, we believe something this sweet deserves to be celebrated not once, but twice.

So, we’re throwing it back with a Ye Olde Mead Day Celebration THIS Saturday, August 1, from 11 AM–8 PM!

Here’s what’s happening:

Double Mead Release: Blackberry Parade and Granny’s Jam

Cousins Maine Lobster Food Truck from 5:30–8 PM

Food specials available in the tasting room all day

Live music with Felicia Hoyos from 12:30–3:30 PM

Live music with jazz combo Lavender, Amos, Walton & Dale from 4:30–7:30 PM

No tickets. No RSVP. Just show up ready to raise a glass, enjoy some delicious food and revel in the magic of mead.

And don’t worry, we’ll still be toasting to the new National Mead Day later in October. Because when it comes to honoring the drink of the gods, more is always merrier.

You’re not going to want to miss this Jazz Friday featuring the Jordan Ponzi Quartet, with J.C. Kuhl on tenor sax, George Cruz on piano, and Emre Kartari on drums.

Every first, third, and fifth Friday, Williamsburg’s Home for Jazz welcomes musicians from across the region for live performances curated by Tony Mata.

Food service begins at 6 PM, with music from 7–9 PM.

Enjoy the performance from our listening room, where the focus is on attentive listening, or from our tap room, where conversation and community take center stage.

Flatbreads, mead, cider, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available throughout the evening.

Jazz Fridays are free to attend, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Some things are simply Better Together.

After becoming a favorite as a taproom-exclusive Mead Lab release, Better Together has officially graduated to bottles!

This semi-sweet, carbonated melomel is made with orange blossom honey, lemon and lime. Bright key lime and soft lemon notes come together with the gentle warmth of honey for a sweet-tart, refreshing sip made for slow evenings and shared moments.

Inspired by the easygoing spirit of the Jack Johnson song, “Better Together” is a quiet reminder that the best flavors, like the best memories, are simple, real and meant to be enjoyed together.

Pair it with fish tacos, BBQ chicken or mango sorbet.

Spend your Friday evening at Williamsburg’s Home for Jazz with great music, delicious food, and your favorite meads, ciders and wines.

Food service begins at 6 PM, so come early for a bite and a glass before the music starts.

From 7–9 PM, our Jazz Jam takes over the tasting room. Whether you’re a musician looking to jam, or simply love listening to live jazz, everyone is welcome. Bring your instrument and join the jam, or grab a seat, relax, and enjoy an evening of incredible local talent.

Looking for a fun and educational way to spend the morning with your kids?

Join us on Wednesday, July 22 at 10 AM for Bees for Beginners, a hands-on experience where young learners will discover the fascinating world of bees, honey, and the important role pollinators play in our environment.

Designed for children ages 7–12, this 45-minute multisensory program includes a guided honey tasting, interactive educational activities, and a take-home activity packet to continue the learning at home.

Parents are required to remain onsite during the experience and are welcome to purchase a ticket if they’d like to participate in the guided honey tasting alongside their child.

Then it might be time for a Sweet Escape.

A fan-favorite is back! Sweet Escape blends pineapple, coconut, and orange blossom honey into a tropical mead that cuts through life’s red tape and escapes the same old dull routine. It may just be the drink you’ve been looking for. Umbrellas are optional.

Pair it with pork tenderloin marinated in sweet chili sauce, coconut shrimp, or a slice of angel food cake for the ultimate summer treat.

We’re also celebrating its return with our refreshing Sweet Escape Mead Slushie, available this weekend at the Meadery.

And if you’re joining us tonight, you’re in for an even sweeter escape. Jazz Friday returns from 7–9 PM with the Kevin Gaines Trio featuring George Maddox on piano and Jimmy Trussell on bass.
