This weekend, I had the honor of attending the 2026 FUSION Leadership Conference for Young Farmers & Ranchers thanks to Florida Farm Bureau Federation
I toured one of Florida's oldest continuously operating ranches and listened to Cary Lightsey share his experiences. His passion for ranching and conservation was inspiring, and the rich history was fascinating. I participated in several workshops to better understand my resources, learn how to advocate for farmers and ranchers, and heard a panel of first-time farmers and ranchers share their journeys. As someone new to the industry, it was reassuring to realize I'm not alone and that perseverance pays off - there's a supportive community out there!
We wrapped up with an incredible talk by Dr. Temple Grandin, who revolutionized the cattle industry despite facing numerous adversities. Her advocacy for autism and her inspiring story resonated deeply with me.
I leave this weekend motivated to grow our ranch. I know it won't be easy, but I am committed to growing, learning, and building connections.
