Our eggs are now available at the Ridgewood Ranch farm stand!

Located off of the 101 between Willits and Ukiah, the farm stand also has local beef, lamb, goat, produce, bread, flour, and more! It’s such a great resource and we’re very grateful for the opportunity to be included 💕

Hi friends, I just wanted to let you all know that I’m still alive. I mentioned this in my stories today, but I experienced a pretty severe burnout at the end of February and I’m still working on recovery.

I know not everyone understands burnout, and I’m certainly not really qualified to explain it fully, but essentially it feels something like an extreme depressive episode (something I’ve also experienced). Any form of movement, work, even feeding myself became almost impossible. Pair that with extreme apathy and well, let’s just say I haven’t been myself for a while.

I’ve never been great at content creation but I’ve still been more absent than usual, and wanted to explain. I’m slowly recovering but can never take adequate time to rest due to all of my responsibilities, so healing is especially difficult. But I’m still here, still working, still trying, still snuggling huge livestock guardian babies 💕

A brief example of how easy it is to call your representatives using the 5 Calls app, even if you have anxiety. ⁣

Now is the time, and it’s never been more important. Our representatives are supposed to represent, and we the people must stand up for what is right. Feel free to share.

Gird your loins y’all, I’ve got something to say! ⁣

Mid rosacea flare and all 😅⁣

I’m gonna say it once: If you support a felon, it was never about the law. If you take people from their place of work, it was never about contributing to this country. If you use tax records, it was never about taxes. If you don’t support due process, it was never about the constitution. We have rights. Immigrants have rights. ⁣

I’m going to say that louder for the people in the back. IMMIGRANTS HAVE RIGHTS and the constitution is for everyone on US soil. ⁣

If you disagree, feel free to show yourself out. This has never been the right space for you. ⁣

FOOD IS POLITICAL and I work in the non profit, nutritional assistance and food security sector - this is squarely within my lane. I might be at my breaking point, but I will work myself to the bone before giving up on my little corner of the world. I urge you to fight back, too. Reach out if you don’t know where to start. ⁣

Take care of yourselves.

Please enjoy 6 minutes of me rambling about farming in a forest, mushrooms, and randomly falling in a decomposed tree stump. You’re welcome. ⁣

(I shot this before the rains started and forgot to post. Unfortunately the rains we’re now experiencing mean most of the mushrooms still out there will be ruined 😢 It was a fun season while it lasted!)

A little bottle baby update for you. ⁣⁣How it started -> how it went -> how it’s going 🐐 💕

We hardly ever eat our own product, mostly because we’re so small that we often sell out, but also because we can’t really spare the potential income. That said, anytime one of our birds isn’t quite up to standard, we get to feast!

This hen had crooked legs, and therefore spent too much time on her keel, resulting in a small hematoma. So we roasted her up, and let me tell you, she was absolutely delicious. Firm, juicy, and extremely flavorful.

Our heritage meat bird breeding group still needs quite a bit of work, but I’ve already seen a lot of improvement in our F2 population, and look forward to continuing to hone in on desirable traits while decreasing the less desirable ones in the coming years. Healthy, active, long backed, straight legged birds with large bodies and relatively rapid growth, but not so large of body that their bones get too big, is what I am aiming for. It takes time, work, and keen observational skills but seeing and tasting the progress is so incredibly satisfying.

We have these delicious heritage chickens available at today, as well as a limited amount of duck - come visit and prepare for the upcoming holiday season!

PS - we also have my locally sourced goat milk soap available, perfect for gifting!

Alright guys, I need a favor - if you’re seeing this post, *please* share it far and wide (especially if you’re located in CA). Likes and comments would also be appreciated, but sharing would be incredibly helpful as I REALLY need to sell some piggies.

As a sort of continuation from yesterday’s post, we are working to downsize where we need to in order to keep things afloat. At one point we really wanted to offer USDA pork to our community, but that time has come and gone and we are now only interested in keeping a few for ourselves. As such, I have 14 piglets that need home, as well as a registered kunekune sow we’re hoping to sell.

The sow is from rare New Zealand bloodlines and we’re hoping to sell her bred to our boar. I am happy to provide more info about her, as well as photos and her registration papers, to anyone interested.

The piglets include 3 kunekune gilts (young females) and 7 kunekune barrows (castrated males), all of whom are out of registered sows and sited by a registrable boar, so they will be registrable as soon as soon as the boars papers come though.

We also have 3 purebred but unregistered mangalista gilts and one young, uncastrated boar available. They will grow up to be big, beautiful pigs worthy of a breeding program or the table.

All are INCREDIBLY friendly and will roll over for belly rubs and take treats from your hands. They make great meat pigs as well as parents, though the kunekune gilts are only available to homes that wish to breed or keep them as companions, they’re too well bred and sweet to head to freezer camp.

Please message or text for pricing or more info - we have a lot invested in them but cannot afford to feed them through the winter, so as sad as it’ll be to see them go, we need to find them homes asap and are willing to work with people on price. They really are sweethearts, so please share so we can find them new pastures to graze and hearts to melt! ❤️

It’s with some sadness but also with some relief that I announce to you all that we are officially phasing out our quail breeding program. ⁣

Quail were the first animal we ever raised for meat, both for ourselves and others. They were the first meat we ever sold, and we’ve had several highly respected chefs work with them in the past, something I’m still very proud of. However, we’ve found over the years that they’re just not financially sustainable for us, as sales and interest have always been sporadic. It’s bittersweet closing this chapter, but as we grow and evolve as a farm and business, we have to be willing to make hard but necessary decisions. ⁣

All that to say: now is the time to stock up on quail meat if that is your jam! We sell them in two packs at and will have them available until they’re sold out. When they’re gone they’re gone so feel free to message or text me if you’re interested and can’t make it to market!
