Prairie Rose Organic Farm

Prairie Rose Organic Farm Here at Prairie Rose Organic Farm, we raise certified organic beef and grow top quality organic alfal We guarantee all of our beef for 30 days.

Our certified organic beef is raised from birth to slaughter weight on our farm, sold directly to customers by the 1/4, 1/2, whole, or by individual cuts. The locker plant with which we do business processes the beef organically and is federally inspected. We encourage new customers to try a small sample of ground beef and steaks before placing a larger order so they are familiar with the delicio

us flavor and quality texture. We also grow top quality certified organic hay and small grains, primarily hard red spring wheat, hard white spring wheat, and oats. Our family farm is located in northern North Dakota where we grow our products organically with an emphasis on natural and sustainable practices to care for the earth, from which our nutritional needs come. We believe in healthy food and produce the most nutritional food for those who believe in it but don't have the opportunity to produce enough for themselves. Interest in beef grew as daughters, Georgia and Margaret became interested in showing calves and later heifers and steers through 4-H. They have been an integral part of the farming operation from early childhood and have helped shape the beef herd into what it is today. There are presently three farmers who care for the crops and animals. Jay has been farming since 1973 and Beth joined when they married in 1976. Jay spends most of his energy on farming, with an emphasis on crops. Beth is a Jane of all trades, as she oversees organic certification and label approval. She is also very involved in the cattle. Their daughter, Georgia, has returned to the farm after college as well and is primarily involved in cattle and hay production. Josh and Margaret Schmitke round out the family from a distance in Indiana, assisting with technology and creativity. Jay and Beth have been certified organic since 2005 for the crops and hay, and certified the cattle in 2008. 95% of the cropland was managed as naturally as possible since 1973, and cattle have been managed naturally since 2006, when they were transitioned to organic in their herd health and medicinal needs. Our goal is to care for the land and animals while providing top quality nutrition for our customers.
