Student Spotlight: Olivia Corrao

One of my Who’s Who choices this year, Olivia has been a vital part of building Tiger Café from the ground up. Throughout the year, she has helped shape what Tiger Café has become through her hard work, leadership, and commitment to excellence.

Olivia is the student behind our famous Cowboy Cookies recipe (yes, that’s her recipe!) and mastered our Texas Sheet Cake recipe that became a favorite with customers and staff alike. Whether working in production, helping with caterings, or serving customers, she has been a key contributor to Tiger Café’s success.

Olivia got a job at Taco Bell in Canton just last month, and in only one month she has already earned Employee of the Month and been promoted to Trainer, where she is now helping train new employees.

This is exactly what Tiger Café is all about—developing real-world skills, building confidence, and preparing students to enter the workforce ready to succeed. I couldn’t be more proud of Olivia and all she has accomplished. The future is bright for this young lady! 💙🐾

As we wrapped up the 2025-2026 school year, Tiger Café was still hard at work until the very last minute!

Today, students packaged and labeled individual cheesecake slices for the Education Foundation to distribute to staff across the district. While we didn't make the cheesecakes ourselves, our students were responsible for preparing them for distribution, focusing on presentation, organization, efficiency, and attention to detail—skills that are essential in the food service industry.

There couldn't have been a more fitting way to end the year than serving others and representing Tiger Café one final time. Thank you to everyone who supported our students throughout the year. We are proud of what we've built together and excited to see where Tiger Café goes next.

Tiger Café wrapped up our final catering of the school year today, and what a way to finish. 💙🐅

Looking back at where we started this year compared to where we are now is honestly incredible. These students have grown so much — not just in cooking skills, but in confidence, teamwork, communication, problem solving, time management, and professionalism.

Today’s setup wasn’t just “making food.” This was real-world culinary and hospitality experience:
✔️ Catering production
✔️ Food presentation
✔️ Portioning and display
✔️ Customer service
✔️ Team coordination
✔️ Time management under pressure
✔️ Workforce-ready culinary skills

From charcuterie boards and pinwheel trays to desserts and catering displays, our students took pride in every detail. The growth in their systems, organization, and presentation this year has been amazing to watch.

As their teacher, I could not be more proud of the work they accomplished this year. And the best part? The students are proud of themselves too — because they know how far they’ve come.

Tiger Café started as an idea, and this year it truly became an operation. 💙🐅

Today in Tiger Café was all about the behind-the-scenes work. 🧼🐅
Students tackled some deep cleaning and then worked on perfecting chili cheese fries and cheese fries. Real kitchen work takes both great food and a clean kitchen!

6th period Intro Culinary had their moment today making cotton candy — one of those “look how far we’ve come” labs. Watching students who started the year nervous around equipment now confidently running machines, troubleshooting, and creating products on their own is exactly what this program is about.

Meanwhile, Tiger Café was busy handling another catering job for a retirement party while also enjoying some smoked ribs and baked potatoes from yesterday’s cookout. Real kitchen energy all around today — production, teamwork, timing, multitasking, and a lot of good food.

From first-time Intro students to Tiger Café operations, it’s been amazing watching these students grow into confident, workforce-ready young adults this year.

Nobody warned me when I started teaching that I would grow so attached to my seniors. ❤️

You spend the year teaching skills, running labs, solving problems, feeding them, pushing them to do better, and somewhere along the way they become “your kids.” Then graduation gets here way too fast.

Watching these students grow in confidence, leadership, and real-world skills this year has been one of the greatest parts of building Tiger Café. Seeing them walk across that stage tonight is bittersweet. I’m so proud of them… but it’s hard letting them go.

One of the biggest blessings of this job is getting to be a small part of their story before they head into the next chapter of life.

Once a Tiger Café student, always a Tiger Café student. 💙🐅

Today was a sweet full-circle moment in Intro to Culinary. 🍭

Our students started the year learning how to make cotton candy, and today they finished the year right back at the cotton candy machine — only this time with a whole lot more confidence, independence, and skill.

Meanwhile in Tiger Café, students handled our popcorn and drink delivery service and also put together bean and cheese nachos for the day. It’s always fun watching them balance production, customer service, and hands-on kitchen skills all in the same class period.

From nervous first spins of sugar to running the machine like pros, these students have grown so much this year.

Today’s culinary adventures kept every kitchen station busy! 🍽️🔥

Advanced Culinary tackled a full lineup today with chicken alfredo, roasted potatoes and carrots, cheeseburgers and fries, Mr. Phillips’ favorite butter pecan cake, and a German chocolate cake for Mr. Felder’s birthday celebration. 🎂

Meanwhile, Intro to Culinary put their knife skills to work prepping fresh fruit for fruit kabobs, practicing consistency, safety, and proper cutting techniques along the way. 🍓🍍🍇

From hot line production to baking and knife skills, today was another great day of building real-world kitchen experience in Culinary Arts at Wills Point High School! 🐅👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Today was one of those days where you can really see the growth happening in our program. Tiger Café sold out of our $5 cake and drink pop-up, the systems ran smoother than ever, even with more added variables and delivery times, the students handled it like a real kitchen crew. Watching them step up, problem solve, and work together so naturally makes me incredibly proud.

One of my favorite moments today was seeing our “Grill Queen” in action. At the beginning of the year, she was scared to even touch the grill. Now? She proudly calls it her grill and gets mad when somebody leaves it messy. 😂 That’s exactly the kind of confidence and ownership we want students to build through hands-on experience.

Intro to Culinary worked on knife skills while making mini fruit cookie pizzas, and the students were challenged to create products they could actually sell — combining creativity, presentation, and production skills all in one lab.

Tiger Café was BUSY today! We wrapped up over 400 desserts for tonight’s Spring Athletic Banquet, and let’s just say… some hard dessert decisions are going to have to be made at those tables tonight. 🍓🍫🧁

From banana pudding cups to strawberry shortcake cups and German chocolate brownies, our students worked hard to produce a huge variety of desserts for the event while learning real-world production, organization, and large-scale prep skills along the way.

Meanwhile, Tiger Café also knocked out grilled chicken nachos and grilled cheese for lunch, while Intro to Culinary made strawberry cream cheese crescent rolls in the kitchen today.

A lot of cooking, a lot of teamwork, and a whole lot of learning happening inside these kitchens. 💙🐅
