Anyone need a grade/experimental buckling? I'm overrun! This weekend has been a busy one; five does kidded, resulting in 13 kids total (nine bucks and four does). Naturally, all the cute colored kids are bucks and don't really have a place here. Let me know if I can fill your bottle baby buckling needs!

“All dressed up with nowhere to go” is a quote from my aunt that rang in my ears today when, unfortunately, I couldn’t attend a show I had planned. While my cousin and sister, whom my aunt was referencing, did change their fate on that snowy winter night, my girls did not and stayed home. Here are some of my girls who are relieved I didn’t get them up at 5 am, just like my cousin and sister were after that unexpected snowstorm my aunt thought would dampen their plans.

2025 Ohio State Fair was a success an fun as always being with great friends. I didn’t get a chance to take pictures myself, besides milk stand pics, but was lucky enough to purchase several from the on site photographer. My herd had the honor of winning the following:
Reserve Champion Best Toggenburg Udder
Grand Champion Recorded Grade Udder
1st place Recorded Grade Breeder’s Trio
1st place Recorded Grade Get of Sire
1st place Recorded Grade Produce of Dam
1st place Recorded Grade Dam and Daughter
Recorded Grade Govenor’s Award (Best Dairy Herd)

2025 kidding season kicked off with just the results I’d hoped for, twin does from this breeding which previously produced some very lovely offspring. Welcome to the world girls!

Simons’ Dairy HMCA Serena pictured as a three year old third freshener at the 2024 Ohio State Fair. Serena has three paternal Toggenburg sisters in the herd and although they outshine her with their achievements Serena has never lost in putting a smile on my face. As the oldest daughter of my previously mentioned doe, CH (Pending) Saphy, she has as also produced a very lovely two year old daughter by my senior herdsire, Kastdemur’s KV Valerion, who appears to have a bright future!

CH (pending) Simon’s’ Dairy RRF Saph-Fire “Saphy” made the trip to the 2024 Ohio State Fair where she was the Recorded Grade Reserve Best Udder.

The last two weekends have been busy with two shows, each containing three rings, and I’ve been fortunate enough to exhibit at both. At the Ohio Dairy Goat Association show Simons’ Dairy HMCA Joplin was RGCH Toggenburg Senior in Ring 2 and GCH and BOB Toggenburg Senior in Ring 3, earning her first leg. At the South Western Ohio Dairy Goat Association show this last weekend Simons’ Dairy HMCA Joplin was GCH and BOB Toggenburg Senior in all three rings with Simons’ Dairy HMCA JLo being RGCH Toggenburg Senior in two of those rings. Unfortunately at the SWODGA show the Toggenburg Senior division was short by two entries so Joplin did not earn any legs towards her championship, however she brought home some neat plaques to display! Not pictured but attended also was Simons’ DG HMCA Judy who was exhibited milked out at both shows and between those shows was 1st place Two Year Old Toggenburg Senior doe 5/6 times (3 of those times she was a single entry 😉). What a great way to kick off the 2024 Show Season, thank you to the ODGA and SWODGA clubs for putting on fantastic shows and to Lisa Begley for helping me snap these pictures!

Simons’ DG KV Suze was GCH JR GR at the 2023 Highland Dairy gost show, winning her restricted leg, and the 2022 GCH JR GR at the Lorain County Fair. Suze is a lovely girl, named after one of my first dairy goats (no relation) and fingers crossed will carry in her Mother’s footsteps.

Some four legged creatures who help the goat operation going! Fern is my calico barn cat who has been with me at two farms over the last 13 years helping keep the unwanted critters at bay, pictured with her daughter who is following in her foot steps. Also pictured is my standard poodle, Dove, who tends to each bottle baby like her own. Dove routinely does her “rounds” with all the goats but is the most help during kidding season, always checking and cleaning the babies and reminding me when it’s time for the next feeding. Team work!
