We are so excited to announce that Cowlvin has made it to his new home (and his new lady)!

Dogwood Farm is the proud new owner of this handsome guy! We are forever grateful for the babies he provided us here and look forward to seeing more from him and Anni.

Thank you to our customers who loved and admired Cowlvin over the last 4 years. He became somewhat of a trademark for us and even made it to news stands, magazine articles and has pictures in the visitors bureau office. He left his legacy here at Schappacher Farms and in all of our hearts! 💕

Thank you again to Sam and Dogwood Farm! Please feel free to follow their page as Cowlvin continues his next chapter! 🥹

🚨 Breaking news from the farm 🚨

A new calf was born yesterday!!

🌶️ Pepper is his name….he might just be spicier than our comment section yesterday! 🌶️

He is doing great! He has met the herd already and was caught exchanging nose boops with Ana. Just a cow doing cow things and a farmer doing real life farmer things. 😉

Pepper will be available at some point. We will post more on that later. And for goodness sakes, he will not be for sale to make White Castles!! 🍔 He can not stay here and potentially breed his Mom or Sister. In**st = irresponsible breeding!!

🖤 Welcome to this crazy world little dude!! 🌍

Farm life isn’t always easy to understand from the outside looking in. When people see farmers selling livestock, it can look harsh or purely business driven, but that perspective misses the heart of animal husbandry. We raise our animals with care, responsibility, and respect. We spend early mornings, late nights, and long seasons making sure our herd is healthy, fed, and protected. The reality is these are not pets that sleep at the foot of our bed every night. They require much more work and attention than that.

Animal husbandry isn’t just about owning animals, it’s about managing a herd responsibly, maintaining genetics, supporting the food supply, and making decisions that keep the farm sustainable for the long run.

Selling cattle is part of that cycle. For us, those animals aren’t just “inventory.” We know them, we care for them, and we take pride in raising them well. And we’re lucky enough to share a very small glimpse of that with you all in the fall!

It’s okay if someone doesn’t immediately understand that process. We welcome questions and love being able to educate folks! But respectfully, if you’ve never worked on a farm, owned a farm or raised livestock yourself, your baseless opinion is not worth a damn.

We care deeply about our animals, our land and our business. So before judging, take a moment to learn about the reality of farm life. It’s a lot more complex and a lot more human than it may seem.

My post of Cowlvin was short and to the point. Why? Because I had to explain to a little girl those realities of farm life and dry her tears while doing so. So honestly, any comments that followed from a stranger didn’t hurt much anyway.

We’re here to bridge the gap between farmer and consumer, and sometimes it’s not always an easy bridge to cross.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

UPDATE: Cowlvin is spoken for! As INTENDED, he is finding new pasture and a new lady friend soon! I will share more updates when appropriate.

It’s time for us to part with our guy, Cowlvin. 🥲

If you or someone you know is seriously interested in him, please message us.

He’s been a great bull for our herd and he has been the mascot of our farm for the past 4 years.
