🍯🐝 A closer look at honey extraction (what’s really happening) 🐝🍯

Honey extraction is one of the most important steps in turning a hive’s hard work into the honey people enjoy at home.

Once the honey frames are pulled from the hive, the first step is uncapping. Bees seal each honey cell with a thin layer of wax once the moisture level is just right. We gently remove that wax so the honey can be released.

Next comes the extractor. This machine uses centrifugal force—it spins the frames fast enough that the honey is pulled out of the comb without damaging it. This is important because the comb can then be returned to the bees to refill, saving them a lot of energy.

After extraction, the honey is strained, not over-processed or heavily filtered. The goal is not to strip it, but to remove bits of wax while keeping the natural pollen, enzymes, and flavor intact.

Then it’s allowed to rest so air bubbles rise and the honey naturally settles into its smooth, golden form before bottling.

This process matters because the less we interfere, the more the honey stays true to what the bees created—pure, raw, and local from hive to jar. 🍯🐝

🍯🐝 Did you know this about honey extraction?

When we extract honey, we don’t just “pour it out” of the comb.

The honey frames are first uncapped by hand, where we gently remove the thin wax seal the bees make to store the honey. Then the frames go into an extractor that spins them—kind of like a honey-powered salad spinner!

Here’s the interesting part most people don’t know:

🐝 Honey comes out of the comb warm, fresh, and full of natural air bubbles
🐝 It’s then strained (not heavily filtered) to keep pollen and natural enzymes intact
🐝 Freshly extracted honey actually changes flavor slightly as it rests over the first few days

So every jar isn’t just honey… it’s a snapshot of what the bees were doing in the field just days before. 🍯✨

From hive to extractor to jar—real, raw, and as close to the bees as you can get.

🐝 Did You Know?

Honey bees can tell other bees exactly where to find flowers by performing a special "waggle dance."

But here's the amazing part: the angle of the dance tells the direction, and the length of the dance tells the distance!

In other words, bees use a form of symbolic communication—something once thought to be unique to humans and a few other animals.

Pretty incredible for an insect with a brain about the size of a sesame seed! 🍯✨
