Dragonfly Peony Farm We have over 700 Peonies planted in our gardens for guests to enjoy. We also offer Peonies for sale to our guests.

We will be opening the farm for guests starting on May 9, 2026. We will be open weekends in May from 10am to 3pm. In 2001 Julia Moore created the Dragon Fly Peony Farm. How did Moore, who designed the Electra Recording studios in Los Angeles, become a peony expert? It began in 1990 when she relocated to northern California to be near her sister after losing her son. She lived on a floating home on

the Sacramento river and stumbled upon her first peony at a local nursery.

“I’d never seen one outside of Asian art,” she remembered. Moore then began growing them in her floating garden on the river.

“Back then, you couldn’t buy them hardly anywhere. I knew I had to have more.”

In 2001, she found an ideal spot in the Sierra foothills and followed her dream. She traveled to Oregon to find her favorite varieties of peonies and opened her farm one year later.

Final weekend of 2026. After this weekend the farm will only be open by appointment.

Lots of late variety blooms opening up, it should be a good weekend.

When you arrive you can park inside the gate or along the road outside the gate. There is plenty of parking avaliable.Please make sure you don't block the road when you park.

Dropped off a couple blooms at the Calaveras County Fair. They should open today and display nicely all week. I cut them a couple weeks ago and using the refrigerator storage method, I was able to have the blooms open today.

Good morning,

Here is a short video of the inventory we have remaining.

We had a amazing weekend with all the visitors to our farm. Hundreds of plants found new homes.

The high demand for peonies this year and the 80 plants that were damaged during shipping last fall has our inventory getting a little thin. I will have new inventory potted around November first.

With the blooms ariving weeks early it's been a interesting year. We will not be open on Memorial Day weekend. May 16th and 17th will be our last regular open weekend. We will still be open by appointment after the 17th.

We are out of Coral peonies for the year. The entire group of corals we received last year, when they emerged, are not looking right so I am not selling them. There were a couple other varieties that were in the same box that were also affected, and we also pulled those, but we have other inventory to sell on those plants. The life of a gardener.
