Did you know you don't need to refrigerate eggs unless they're washed? Thats right, eggs can sit on your counter for up to 30 days before they need to be tossed.

Instead of cluttering up your counters with lots of egg cartoons, you could keep them in an egg Skelter!!

How it works, the old eggs are always on the bottom. So you collect your eggs, and place them on top, and as you use your eggs, they roll their way to the bottom! So you never have to remember what eggs need to be used first, and you can see all your beautiful colored eggs!!

Chicken Breed of the Day: The Ameraucana!!!

The Ameraucana chicken breed has a fascinating history that traces back to the early 1970s. It originated from the Araucana chickens of Chile, which are known for their distinctive tufts of feathers on their cheeks and blue egg-laying capabilities

These beautiful girls lay 3-4 eggs a week or 150-200 eggs a year. Each hen will give one color egg. The egg color will not change from one egg being laid to the other. For example, if your hen has just laid a blue egg, it will lay a blue egg its entire life.

Ameraucana's are friendly and docile, making them great for any flock type!

Reminder though a little chilly outside, now is a great time to get chicks growing for the county fairs, as the brooders are still nice and warm!

Chicken Breed of the Day: The Black Australorp!!

The Australorp originated in Australia in the 1900's, and is the Country's Natinal Chicken breed!!

Bred for egg laying, these birds are exceptional egg layers, laying anywhere from 250-300 eggs a year!! They lay a large light brown egg. They start laying eggs around 6-7 months of age.

They are very friendly, docile chickens known for being friendly and calm, ideal for any flock!!

Chicken breed of the day!!!!

Introducing the: Lavender Orpington!!

The Orpington breed itself originated in England in the 1880's. The Lavender color, was created in the 1990's.

The Orpington lays 170-200 eggs a year. They lay a medium sized light brown colored egg.

They are very friendly by nature and not a skittish bird. They are also friendly with other birds, I don't know if they have a mean bone in their body!

They are a hardy bird and can handle our Wisconsin winters well.

We have lots of chicks on the ground now, and more to come in the incubator!!🐣

While we're all cuddled up in our blankets, now is a great time to start thinking about chicks!! We have a very good selection of young chicks available now for you 4H and or Open Show needs.

While we have cut back on some of breeds of birds, we continue to hatch about weekly.

We have a very good selection of chick's from a week old to about 5 months of age.
We also have a very large selection of pullets that are 4 months old.
Chick's are all eating and drinking when you get them.

We are also accepting deposits on Red Star pullets that will be available for pick up in March. These are exceptional egg layers, and will be 2 to 3 weeks out from laying when you get them. These are $25 each with a non-refundable prepaid deposit of $10 per bird.
Last year we sold out by mid February.

We have been having predator issues and are no longer doing chickens. Everything will be for sale. All young birds to be sold first from new born chickens to 5 months of age.
I'll update posting once young birds are gone to sell groups, and supplies. Thank you to everyone that has blessed us with buying our birds over the last several years.
