BEAUTY IN THE BROKEN

Behind the house, beyond the backyard
Hidden from sight
Failed fences and hopeless relics
Rusting in the weeds

Artist wounded, alive with wonder
Smitten by the scene
Canvas caressed to reveal the hidden
Beauty in the broken.

I was a mess, broken by addictions, wounded by trauma; desperately trying to shout down the voice inside saying, “You are hopeless.” But another voice, the voice of the Artist, said, “You have ravished my heart” Song of Songs 4:9. It didn’t make sense to me, but His love changed me.
He sees beauty where others see only brokenness - that’s what artists do.
