Scouting fields this week. All our beans are filling their pods now. Some have finished blooming, others still have a few blooms forming. They are TALL this year, but finding more diseases than I'd like.

Should be harvesting in 4-5 weeks!

I present tonight's dinner - The Accidental Vegetarian!

We processed another 45ish pints of sweet corn from our patch (blanch, cut off cob, bag, and freeze) and didn't have the ambition to cook!

So tonight, its corn on the cob, with butter, salt and pepper and a thick slice of a tomato that we also grew in the garden!

Summer yumminess! 😁

Its sweet corn season!

We planted two times to stretch out the harvest and the early planting is juuuust right for freezing. Sweet, firm kernels will be a perfect side dish all winter!

Paula and I processed a total of 45ish pints over 2 days. Not hard work, it just takes time.

Here, we pick the ears, remove the husks, then boil the whole ear. When its cooked, we place in an ice bath to stop the cooking process. When its cooled, we cut it off the cob and place in ziploc bags for freezing.

This likely will be served with a Walton Farms ribeye, baked potato, and a glass of red wine - our favorite meal!

Last planted field of soybeans looking 🤌🔥

Planted 6/11 after taking triticale silage off this field. Soybeans are happy, growing well and best of all - loaded with blooms! Making cow chow AND protein plus oil that can fuel a nation!

Planted this soybean field after chopping Triticale for silage. They are growing fast and looking 🤌

My friends and family sometimes think my business travel is glamorous. If by Glamorous, they mean leaving Washington DC 2hrs late, getting connecting flights cancelled and stranded in Charlotte North Carolina for 24hrs, doing zoom calls from th e hotel room, and eating vía DoorDash, then yeah, this is about as glamorous as it gets! 🤣

Technology is awesome when it works!

Been fighting electrical gremlins in the harness for a few days, fix one and another pops up. Mostly loose connections, but exacerbated by delays in shipping components to fix.

Today its a GPS upgrade that didn't take the first time the tech was out. I'm blaming short-term memory loss. 🤷‍♂️

Always something. We'll power through, get it fixed, and get the planter rolling again!
