At Gudel Cattle Company, quality is more than just a phrase. Our goal is to produce Angus and Sim-Angus bulls that work for the commercial cattleman – bulls that have longevity, get cattle bred and produce calves that in turn, make a profit. Our extensive artificial insemination and embryo transfer program have allowed us to select for a balance in traits that produces an ideal package both geneti
cally and phenotypically. We prefer cattle that have excellent conformation and excel in growth, without sacrificing calving ease, carcass or docility. We emphasize the same selection traits in our purebred cattle as we do in our commercial herd. We keep only the elite, top 25% of our calf crop each year as registered bulls. While bulls are always available at the ranch through private treaty, we send our spring-born bulls to Synder Livestock’s Bulls for the 21st Century Sale and California State University, Fresno while our fall-born bulls are on test at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. While raising bulls has been our primary focus, we also raise a small number of Shorthorn females each year that we market as project calves for junior livestock exhibitors.
