Someone recently asked for info. on my SLW. My response might help others. **Wimberley, TX. I will be incubating some in 2 weeks but won't decide which ones to sell or keep until sometime around Oct. when they old enough choose the next generation for my breeding program. I then go thru that group again at 11 months to determine egg quality and final overall type which follows Sandard of Perfection. I breed with the Standard of Perfecton as my goal. Any bird with any disqualificatios or major flaws are never sold or bred. If you are looking for SLW which are not meeting the SOP, there are plently of people breedng them, selling straight run chicks or even young pullets. Your personal goal, determines which level/quality of SLW you desire to have. I started with hatchery quality and they were not close to what I had expected so I went with a top SLW breeder and paid $45 each for day old baby chicks, straight run. Three years later and I am still improving on what the original chicks turned out to be. I hope your SLW journey is a good one and you find what works for you. **If I am totally convinced a 'sub par" bird will not be bred, I will consider a sale to a non breeder.
