🍞 Soma Bread – More Than Bread: A Rising Vision for Community Healing 🌾
Meet Ian Plourde, founder of Soma Bread and a recent graduate from UMass Lowell with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies. But Ian’s education is only part of the story. Those who’ve met him know they’ve encountered a truly good soul—humble, thoughtful, and deeply rooted in faith.
Ian’s long-term dream? To establish a community farm where people from all walks of life can come together to learn, heal, and thrive. At the heart of this farm will be Soma Bread—handmade from locally grown grains and donated to those in need. It’s food as nourishment, yes—but also as connection, dignity, and love.
That dream is already rising.
Through the Local Makers Hub kitchen, Ian is currently testing his Soma Bread small-batch concept, crafting hearty loaves, sweet braided breads, and unique pastries (like his signature green Irish-inspired scones). Whether it's a shared moment at a community meal or a fresh loaf gifted to a neighbor, each creation carries his mission forward.
🧁 See Ian in action, feeding the community at events like the Local Makers Hub’s pop-up meals.
