Shearing Day 2026 (two weeks ago now) was an overall success, though I got very few photos or videos to document it because 1) it was hot as blazes, 2) we were rushing to beat a rainstorm, and 3) I rarely think of it until it's too late. π€¦πΌββοΈ
Everyone's body condition was excellent underneath their wooly coats, which always leads to a huge sigh of relief from this perpetually worried shepherdess. ππΌββοΈ π
Perhaps the best part of the evening was getting an ultrasound on our gal Maple and finding out she's pregnant. She's our oldest ewe and I've been preparing myself for her retirement for awhile now. When she didn't lamb with the rest of the flock, I just assumed she was done. Turns out we'll have another round of Maple babies after all! π
And now the flock is ready for summer heat whenever it returns. π
