That’s a wrap on RRP.
What an experience. Captain did so well in a show environment.
It’s crazy that I actually practiced competitive trail and Captain said no thank to the entire course (we basically came in last) but I didn’t practice my freestyle routine a single time, basically went into the ring with a idea and that’s it and he was soooo happy doing it. He nailed a flying lead change which I’ve never asked him before! We even came home with a ribbon, and the best part is, it’s my son’s favorite color, green.

I was so nervous that I hadn’t cantered Captain in weeks, he was lame all last week.
Each time I took him into a warm up ring and let him canter he was happy, it was so exciting to see. He even didn’t want to leave a ring one time and wanted to do more canter work. Captain did an amazing job with the fact that I’ve barely ridden him since I was pregnant up until mid June. Being a stay at home mom and trying to find time to ride was so hard. I can’t wait to see what this horse does with another year of growing and more steady work. He’s truly a gem under his baby mind and has so much potential as a show horse. I can definitely see him being an eventer down the road.

I wouldn’t be here without all of you. RRP has been on my bucket list for the past 10 years. My husband is getting his PhD and horses aren’t in the budget but because of Two Pond Farm and all of you I still made this work.

Also wouldn’t be here without the hard work of Jess Byers, Alec Fourman, Mary Seney and Diamond J Equine. I didn’t think my horse would be sound enough after his abscess. Now I think he feels too good, I’ve never seen him move this well!

Another Captain post because The Thoroughbred Makeover is next week. Yikes.

Captain has had an abscess (fluid/inflammation/gross bacteria) in his hoof since last week.
I thought the makeover was over for us. He could barely walk, he didn’t want to come in from the field with me. After soaking, wrapping and repeating, the abscess was still there.

It was suggested I do PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) on his hoof.

Diamond J Equine Massage & Therapy squeezed me in and guys, she made the abscess rupture within 30 minutes of treatment. I can’t believe this. I’m forever a fan of PEMF now.

I’m incredibly thankful for everyone who helped Captain in these past few days. The Thoroughbred Makeover means so much to me and we can’t wait for next week!

I will not be at the Wi******er/Clark County Farmers' Market on Saturday but I will be at the Abettor x Farmers Market Oktoberfest 3-8pm! All my soaps will be $5 (which is basically a steal) and the only event I’ll be at after this is the Christmas market, so stock up!

Well we got the cursed pre RRP Thoroughbred Makeover abscess. Hoping it clears up in time.
But it gave us time to work on more obstacle work.

The clinic we went to really paid off. Captain didn’t even look at the pool and just hopped right in 💦🌊

It’s not scary if it’s a toy.
The Thoroughbred Makeover is about 3 weeks away. I’m fine. Everything is fine. 😅

Can you believe that emu oil shrank this mole down? I’ve had this mole for years and I remembered I had a customer shrink a mole on her head using emu oil so I figured I’d give it a shot!

My postpartum brain got me and I’m thankful soap is forgiving.
I made a large batch of my unscented tallow soap and while I doubled my large batch, I didn’t double my lye 🤦🏼‍♀️ My husband made me a soap calculated for my recipe so I can resize it as needed but I have my normal recipe memorized and I guess that took over.

My soap came out soft and didn’t harden at all in the middle. Yikes, I was hoping I didn’t just waste all that tallow. It took me 3 days to figure out that I didn’t double it but luckily you can cut up soap and rebatch it and add whatever you forgot.

While this batch isn’t pretty, it still functions just the same!

A mistake made a fun learning experience.

I’m hoping the lions mane tincture I’m making comes through for my brain 😅
