I went outside yesterday with the intention of making a little video telling you guys the story of how Willow Moon Farm got started…

And somehow it turned into a 5 1/2 minute ramble. 😂

No script or planning. Just me, outside, telling the story as it came to me.

So instead of trying to cram the whole story into one video, I’m going to share it with you a little bit at a time over the next few days. There’s a lot more to Willow Moon Farm than I can fit into one post, and I thought it would be fun to let you in on how it all actually happened.

In this first part, I’m talking about the very beginning, when I was pregnant with my son and started making my own skincare at my kitchen table.

What started as a creative outlet turned into two years of experimenting, learning, and formulating before I ever officially became a business.

During those two years, I also dove deep into herbalism because I knew from the beginning that I didn’t just want to make skincare. I wanted to understand plants and herbs and find a way to thoughtfully incorporate them into what I was creating.

And honestly… I had no idea where those first little batches at my kitchen table would eventually lead.

So here’s the first little piece of the story. 🤎

8 years of Willow Moon Farm 🥹🌿🤎

Eight years ago today, I took the little skincare hobby I had started at my kitchen table and turned it into an official business.

I had started making skincare two years before that while pregnant with my oldest. It was a creative outlet as a stay-at-home mom, a way to bring in a little extra income for our family, and honestly, something I never imagined would become what it is today.

I had $1,000 in savings at the time, and I decided to go all in.

Two years of playing with formulas, making batches in my kitchen, learning through trial and error… and then I made it official.

Eight years later, that little kitchen-table hobby has grown into a regenerative farm, a skincare line, a community, and a business that has become such a meaningful part of our family’s life.

There have been a LOT of lessons, changes, late nights, hard seasons, exciting seasons and so many moments where I’ve had to just figure it out as I went.

But through all of it, you’ve been here.

We’ll be out and about this weekend and would love to see you! ✨

Saturday we’ll be set up at West Oaks Farm Market for Pickle Chester! A full day of all things pickles, local vendors, good food, and fun. Come out and make a day of it!

Then Sunday we’ll be at the Last Sunday Market in downtown Wi******er from 10 AM–2 PM. Come shop local, support your favorite farmers and makers, and stock up!

🌿 We’ll have our non-toxic herbal skincare at both events, along with coolers filled with our frozen, pasture-raised pork.

🐽 We’re bringing a little bit of everything, pork chops, cuts perfect for the grill, breakfast favorites and more. We’ll also have our nitrate-free salami for an easy addition to your charcuterie board or to keep on hand for snacking. So come ready to fill your freezer!

Why I started the farm store 🤎

I wanted a place where I could find all the things I was always searching for locally—

nontoxic products, regeneratively raised meats, organic ingredients, local honey, handmade goods, and products from small businesses I actually trust.

So I created the little farm store I wished existed.

But there was one thing I didn’t want…

A storefront that meant our family had to be there all day, every day.

We have young kids. They have sports, adventures, muddy boots, and places they need to be. 😂 And honestly, we want to be there for all of it.

So we built the farm store a little differently.

It’s self-serve + open 7 days a week, 9–8, so you can shop when it works for your family while we keep doing what we love- growing herbs, making skincare, raising animals, and building this farm.

What’s a hydrosol? A drink for your skin. 🌿✨

A hydrosol is the aromatic botanical water created during steam distillation.

Here at Willow Moon Farm, we grow many of the herbs we use in our skincare right here. When we distill them, steam gently moves through the fresh plant material, carrying tiny amounts of the plant’s aromatic compounds with it. As that steam cools and condenses, it becomes the beautiful, fragrant water we call a hydrosol.

And that’s what makes hydrosols so special: the plant itself is the starting point.
