Our beekeeper, David M. Bailey, will be leading another Bee School Class on September 1 in partnership with UGA Extension - Jackson County! We are entering into an important season for managing bee colonies so whether you have been a beekeeper for a while or hoping to become one soon, this is a great opportunity to learn how to manage healthy bee colonies!

Follow along and watch the bees draw out the comb on the frame, fill it with sourwood honey, and cap it to preserve it. All of this to make the yummy comb honey you can enjoy. We hope to harvest this soon and begin bottling!

The bees weren’t the only ones buzzing around this week🦌 We caught these curious visitors stopping by the beeyard on our trail cameras! We love sharing our little corner of nature with its wild neighbors.

What a great day teaching others about beekeeping for the Master Naturalist Program this past Monday! We always love being at Smithgall Woods State Park!

A few weeks ago we finished harvesting our wildflower honey and now the bees are busy making sourwood honey! Before we know it, we will be back in the yard ready for another harvest but this time, sourwood!

This bear visited our bee yard in the mountains this morning but did not smile for the camera!

We think he was disappointed to experience the electric fence we install to keep him away from our honey… and our honeybees!
