Working on a quote for a potential client today for a trip to Scotland. I took this picture nearly exactly a year ago in Uig, way out on the end of the Isle of Skye. The hard part of this gig is the sin of envy at every turn! Despite that, I'd love to help you plan your trip too!!! PM me anytime!

Winter at Mobumbum Farms doesn't disappoint. That being said, it's already time to get our the calendar and figure out delivery dates for this year's flock! Each season we threaten to do a batch of broilers to sell.... If you're local and are interested, let us know. If I've got enough interest I'll consider it!

The Internet swears you can train your chickens to lay in their boxes using golf balls. The good news is that I suck at golf and always have a ton of extras for when I play! The first two little brown eggs from our new flock where on the floor this morning!!!!

Despite multiple late frosts and snow, this year's garlic harvest was pretty phenomenal. Easy 50 pounds of big healthy bulbs pulled from the warm earth this afternoon. This is the one thing everyone can successfully plant.

Do you ever stop to think about where garlic comes from? Probably not! We hold onto and plant back cloves from each season. But did you know garlic plants have delicious flower pods too? What's in those pods? Yummy baby garlic! If you slit open the pod on the top of a scape you can just see them starting to form garlic bulbs. The reason you cut the scapes is so that plant devotes it's energy to the garlic bulb below ground and not to propagation.

The garlic scapes have been harvested! Around here that means summer is finally in full swing! It also hearkens Pesto Fever! Three large bottles of olive oil, a giant sack of parmesan and some pine nuts are all that stand between us and enough pesto to sink a ship! For tips about garlic cultivation, just leave us a message and we will be happy to share what we've learned!
