I’ve always told Bleu, “What are you doing out here by yourself?! You’re going to get eaten!” and shoo’d her off to the side with the others.

Friends, family, and anyone who has met Bleu over the last two years, today was the day I couldn’t shoo her anymore.

Bleu was happily free ranging by herself, like she always does. I had no idea a bobcat was watching. She was gone in a few seconds, only a pile of her feathers left behind.

We knew the risk. While we gambled and won many times previously, we finally lost.

Some of these cutie pies are ready for a new brooder! All are from my outdoor flock, pet quality. One is definitely a frizzle and two are maybes. The rest are smooth feathered.
