Fat Sheep Farm & Cabins

Fat Sheep Farm & Cabins Fat Sheep Farm is a working farm that offers a unique lodging opportunity to visitors to the Upper Va Ascutney.

Fat Sheep Farm is a working farm that offers a unique lodging opportunity to visitors to the Upper Valley in Vermont and New Hampshire. We have five newly constructed cabins with amazing views and plenty of peace and quiet--yet very close to Woodstock, Quechee and Hanover NH. While staying here, meet our hens, goats, and sheep; check out our sheep dairy and cheese making; play lawn games; relax on

your porch in a comfortable adirondack chair and soak in the view; and explore the local towns that offer an amazing variety of things to do. We are in a convenient location to explore Woodstock, Quechee, and Mt. We are 6 miles to the GMHA and down the road from the GMHA trails. For winter activities we are close to skiing destinations including Su***de Six, Killington, Okemo, and extensive local cross country skiing trails and the VAST trail system.

Noir finally had her lambs. They were so beautiful but the little girl was hypothermic so she ended up needing help from her human community. We brought her inside and after about an hour in front of the wood stove and lots of love and support she was up and walking around. Noir was very grateful when we brought her back. Let us introduce Hansel and Gretel!

Noir was nice enough to help Sorrel clean off her lambs. Twins are tough…you can’t be in two places at once!

Weighing in at 13.9 pounds, this guy broke the record for biggest lamb born on the farm!!! Buffalo, a lamb born in 2019 held the record at 13.8 up until now. Five more ewes to give birth and we’ll be done! Fingers crossed we continue with an easy lambing season (easy for the farmers, it’s never easy for our ewes. Much respect to them ✊)

Meet Lucky! He was born early this morning. And boy is he lucky!!! He gets all of his mom’s milk to himself!!! For those of you who have kids ages 4-9 who love animals, check out the Jasmine Green series by Helen Peters. Each book is about a girl named Jasmine and her best friend Tom and how they save an animal in need. In book 4, Jasmine and Tom save a lamb named Lucky. Meadow thought Lucky would be the perfect name for this little cutie.

The Lamb Cam is live! Every year I talk about getting cameras in our barn for lambing season but never actually do it. This year I finally did it! It should be life changing (at least for this month of our lives)! Lambing season officially starts today, even though no lambs have been born yet. The ewes have been moved to the barn and we will start monitoring them closely (now even from the comforts of my bed!). Stay tuned…

Lamb watch begins on Sunday! We just got a cancellation for our Sunrise Cabin for Saturday and Sunday.
