The increase in tomato prices are due to adverse weather in Florida and Mexico. Roughly 70% of store bought tomatoes come from Mexico. 17% tariffs on Mexican tomatoes are driving the price up too. I've seen several restaurants talking about the increased prices as the highest they've ever seen, but ive seen no news coverage on this. A modest amount of groceries from Aldis yesterday was $80. Buy your CSA shares now and lock in a low price for vegetables all summer long!
