May is Food Allergy Awareness Month.
One, of many, things I will ALWAYS take seriously is a food allergy. As a mother of a child with a peanut/tree nut allergy, I know other mom's concerns. You can't just walk into a bakery and have your child pick an item that has no nuts on it/in it. If the person behind the counter tells you it's safe because it has no nuts...they are so terribly wrong. It's all cross-contaminated. So, they just don't get to go to those yummy places. People that don't have children or family members don't understand how heartbreaking it is and frustrating. And the constant reading of every label or asking all of the questions at a party or family get-together. Making sure I'm carrying that epi-pen everywhere "just in case".
