🏆 Big Day at OKC West | Stickout Sale of the Day Features Record 9-Weight Steers and One of the Best 10-Weight Sales Ever 🏆
OKC West in El Reno, Oklahoma was named the Superior Steel Sales Stickout Sale of the Day by Corbitt Wall on Thursday's Feeder Flash after marketing 8,309 head on Wednesday. According to the USDA, receipts were up from 6,000 head the previous week and 6,129 head a year ago. The USDA reported feeder steers sold $10.00 to $20.00 higher, feeder heifers traded $15.00 to $25.00 higher, steer calves were $10.00 to $20.00 higher, and heifer calves sold $5.00 to $15.00 higher, with good demand reported across all classes.
The sale featured several record-setting steer sales. A load of 155 steers weighing 927 lbs sold for $362.00/cwt, establishing a new all-time high for 9-weight steers at OKC West. Another group of 57 steers weighing 901 lbs brought $353.00/cwt, ranking as the 10th-highest 9-weight steer price in barn history. The barn also posted one of its strongest days ever for 10-weight steers, placing four sales among the top 10 all-time. Included were 225 steers weighing 1,014 lbs at $339.25/cwt and 224 steers weighing 1,016 lbs at $338.00/cwt, ranking as the second- and third-highest 10-weight steer prices in barn history.

Wednesday's leaderboard stretched from Kentucky to South Dakota, with Bluegrass East in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky leading the 4-weight division at $539.00/cwt and Coffeyville Stockyards in Coffeyville, Kansas close behind at $536.00/cwt. Russell County Livestock in Russell Springs, Kentucky and Coffeyville shared the top 5-weight price at $518.00/cwt. Bloomfield Livestock in Bloomfield, Iowa swept the 6-weight category, posting the top two sales at $481.00 and $480.00/cwt.
Hub City Livestock in Aberdeen, South Dakota led the 7-weight division with 72 steers averaging 707 lbs at $422.50/cwt, while OKC West in El Reno, Oklahoma followed at $407.50/cwt. Hub City and Decorah Sales Commission in Decorah, Iowa shared the top 8-weight price at $383.00/cwt. Decorah also posted the highest 9-weight sale of the day at $369.50/cwt, followed by OKC West at $362.00/cwt. In the 10-weight division, Winfield Livestock in Winfield, Kansas topped the category at $342.25/cwt, with OKC West close behind at $339.25/cwt.
