Actor Burt Reynolds shows off his throwing arm while filming a scene for the movie Semi-Tough. The 1977 sports-comedy film starred Reynolds and Kris Krisofferson and was based on the 1972 novel of the same name written by Dan Jenkins. Reynolds and Kristofferson portrayed pro football players Billy Clyde Puckett and Marvin "Shake" Tiller who were involved in a love triangle with Barbara Jane Bookman played by actress Jill Clayburgh. Most of the football scenes were filmed at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Special thanks to Alex Carter for sending this photo.

Burt Reynolds didn't just act like a football player. He was an accomplished running back during his days at Palm Beach High School in the early 1950s. He earned All State and All Southern honors during his senior year. Then known as Buddy Reynolds, he went on to attend Florida State on football scholarship, where his roommate was Lee Corso. Reynolds football career at FSU later fizzled due to injuries. He would later find his true calling while studying drama.

Pinal County farmer Noah Hiscox holds some of his ancient grain recently grown on his farm. The grain was harvested just a few weeks ago. Ancient grains are a group of grains and pseudocereals (seeds used like grains) that have remained largely unchanged over centuries. Arizona's climate is ideal for some of these specialized grains. Many ancient crops are naturally drought-tolerant and require minimal inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides. This makes them ideal for regions facing water scarcity or for farmers seeking other crops to grow. Additionally, the biodiversity these crops introduce can help improve soil health and promote beneficial insects.
