Zion Black Angus Beef Cattle is where my brother and I grew up learning the ins and outs of farming from our parents, Alan and Jana Zion. Both mom and dad grew up farming and have been able to blend their styles together in a way that allows them to continue working outside of the farm while maintaining a smooth operation at home
We are a third generation, family run farm tucked away in the outsk
irts of a
quaint, tight knit community in southwest Washington. Every cow has been born and raised right here in our barns and on our land. Our cattle live a luxurious lifestyle frequently rotating spacious, rich pastures year round and have seperate barns for feeding and loafing. The loafing shed is filled with fresh cedar bark bedding in the winter and the feeding barn provides a constant food supply. The babies are brought in out of the weather and only given a vitamin shot at birth. The gentle nature of our mama cows allow us to keep a close eye on the health and well being of our whole herd. We grow and harvest our own hay using only manure as fertilizer. This top quality grass hay, mama's milk, grain and mineral blocks are all that go into their systems. The grain is bought from a farmer who has been a long time family friend who gives us the most natural grain around. The mineral blocks are bought from a farm store in which we have a long standing relationship. These blocks provide some essential minerals that aren't found in the ground in the pacific northwest. Our simplistic nature of raising our cattle provides superb beef. It is full of flavor, tender, and extra lean. You can taste the difference in every cut. Our methods are completely humane and no animal on our farm is treated with cruelty in any way. If any problems arise that we aren't 100% confident of how to handle, we never hesitate to call the vet. Our cows are not afraid of us and are mild mannered. We do more than just raise beef cattle as well. We have three horses that we keep for pleasure riding. Two of three were rescued and we have seen wonderful improvements in health and personality. We also have two black lab- chesapeake bay dogs that provide a bundle of laughs daily. They are high energy and love having the freedom to roam farm.
