Olequa Farm

Olequa Farm Olequa Farm is a family owned and operated farm where our family has been raising produce and more for nearly 50 years. We may rinse our produce lightly as we bring it in from the field but you need to thoroughly wash all foods before eating.

Situated on the banks of Olequa Creek near Winlock, Washington, Burke and Laura Deming have a wonderful setting for raising farm-fresh products you can take right to the table. Like most family farms, we rely on customers who purchase produce delivered on a regular basis thereby helping pay for seed. We hope we can count on you to become one of those friends. The farmhouse was built more than 100 years ago and the farm has been in operation for nearly that long. Burke and Laura have been part of the Winlock community since Burke’s grandparents bought the farm in 1970. The Demings have raised their children to understand the importance of farming and many family members to help out. Olequa Farm is a perfect place to teach your family about the important role farming has in our economy.

Things are really growing quickly in this weather. The carrots are still pretty small, but definitely sweet. And the blossoms on Big Dena mean great tomatoes later this summer. Oh...and a farmer's hands are permanently dirty!

Patricia radishes and verodita lettuce are in the ground. One of the things few people realize is that, as a farmer, I have to think about what will be ready to harvest when so my customers have a good supply of vegetables all summer long. That’s one of the big reasons I grow several varieties of the most popular items. Of course, Mother Nature always has the final say in all this!

Patricia radishes are a good example as they’re ready to harvest earlier than other varieties. They have a mild, sweet taste that’s really good alone or sliced in salads.

Speaking of salads, verodita lettuce is also in the ground. This crunchy lettuce makes a wonderful head and is great as a “holder” for fillings, and in sandwiches as well as chopped in salads.

Harvested the first crop of spinach last night. It became a quiche for dinner. So good!
