MEISHAN PIGLETS LOOKING FOR NEW PASTURES!

Apparently, our Meishans have been a little too good at doing what Meishans do best, making more Meishans. 😂

We have several Meishan piglets up for discussion, with options for those looking for feeder pigs or breeding stock. If you would like a boar, we need to know by this Wednesday August 26 as we will be barrowing them Thursday early morning.

If you’ve never raised Meishans, there’s a lot to love about this old heritage breed. Meishans are known for their calm, docile personalities, excellent mothering abilities and impressive litter sizes. They mature early, are good foragers and can be a great fit for small farms and homesteads as well as established breeding programs.

And if your goal is raising your own pork, Meishans really shine. They’re known for producing beautiful dark red, richly marbled meat with exceptional flavor, along with beautiful fat that’s excellent for rendering into lard. It’s one of the many reasons this unique heritage breed has such a devoted following.

Of course, we can’t forget those wrinkly faces and giant floppy ears. ❤️ They’re definitely not going to win any beauty contests, although we happen to think they’re pretty darn cute. 😂

MEET OUR NEW HANDSOME FELLA “RED BULL”!

We’re excited to introduce the newest member of the 2 Mac’s Ranch herd, “Red Bull”, a registered South Poll bull weighing in at about 1,700 pounds!

We purchased Red Bull from Broken Oaks Farms in Quitman, just down the road from us. What we really like about their operation is that they’re raising cattle in the same East Texas weather, on the same type of grass, and using many of the same regenerative practices we believe in.

They’re just about 10 years ahead of us!

For us, that means we’re bringing proven genetics into our herd from cattle that are already thriving in the same environment we have here at 2 Mac’s Ranch.

We’re excited to see what “Red Bull” brings to our herd and where these genetics take us in the years ahead.

Our first time sow gave birth to 12 bacon seeds today!! 11 have made it, but we lost one unfortunately. The rest seem to be doing very well!

This is the second litter in the last 2 weeks with 11 piglets. So that’s a total of 22.

We are over flowing with crazy little baby pigs. I guess it’s a good thing I’m going to pick a literal ton of pig feed up tomorrow.
