It's been a while since I had to do laundry at the laundromat so I haven't posted any farm updates. Sadly, that's the only time I have free to say something witty. Here we go...
Several weeks since we started planting in the greenhouse and everyone looks very happy. The deer fence was fixed after much struggle untangling three lines of electric wire, replacing insulators and digging and replacing several posts that snapped. We hope it holds. Our packout shed received a new gutter system with the old damaged by hail and our new solarium is almost ready for the plants coming back from the greenhouse. We've directed seeded one bed of carrots and parsnips so far and have finished prepping one for peas and onions. Only about 47 to go. We've salted our asparagus plants, hauled out the last of the cut firewood and enjoyed doing all that on mostly beautiful days.
In the next few weeks I will be putting up our secondary temporary fence, cleaning out the packout shed, bringing home plants to harden off before planting, prepping as many beds as I can, landscaping the back of the house, hooking up and tightening the drip system. Making room to re-erect our tunnel. Exciting work in spring time. We look forward to the season and seeing everyone again.
