Why we love this wine: “A chillable red to go with these hot temperatures. That’s how my wife and I first enjoyed this bottle by the gardens at Shelburne Farms a couple years ago. A nice hot day by the lake with a lightly chilled breeze and a lightly chilled wine. The Maysara Jamsheed pinot noir is filled with fresh fruits with a slight earthy forest floor note and spice to round it out. An elegant red that tastes great lightly chilled around summer solstice! Cheers!” – Trevor

Viticulture: Certified Biodynamic
Vinification/Elevage: Fermented with native yeast, and aged 12 months in French oak barrels with 10% new oak.
Tasting profile: Dry in the mouth with aromas and flavors of blueberry, raspberry, plum, and earthy hints with a slight hint of black pepper on the finish.
About the winery: The Momtazi family founded Maysara winery in 1997 with over 532 acres that was once an abandoned wheat farm. Everything has been strictly biodynamically farmed on the estate since receiving their biodynamic certification in 2007. The Jamsheed pinot noir is named after the Persian king Jamsheed, which according to legend was able to see his entire realm through his wine glass.

Why we love this wine: “Judith Beck makes some killer natural wines. Some with a little natty funk like her Ink red, but her Weissburgunder has no funk aromas if that’s not your style. It’s a clean and crisp Pinot Blanc filled with fresh orchard fruits with a slight saline mineral finish. Woman-owned, organic, and made vegan! Cheers!” – Trevor

Viticulture: Certified organic and biodynamic

Vinification/Elevage: Hand-picked, whole bunch pressed and matured on the lees in old acacia barrels. Made vegan.

Tasting profile: Aromas and flavors of pear, apple, and touch of salty minerality. Crisp, clean, and dry with a refreshing citrus finish.

About the winery: Judith Beck owns 15 hectares, roughly 37 acres, of vines. She’s well known for her biodynamic farming and natural winemaking practices. Her parents founded the family estate in 1976 before she assumed full control of the estate in 2004 with a natural “sixth sense” in winemaking working with primarily Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, and St. Laurent along with Pinot Noir and Merlot. 15% of the remaining vines are Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay.
