It’s been a busy couple of days, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of everyone who welcomed us out! 💛

Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Springfield Rehabilitation & Health Center with our two bunnies, Peder and Nugget. Then today we were back on the road for our Hop & Moo Easter Crew visits!

Peder, Nugget and Josie absolutely loved all the attention, and it was so great meeting new faces while also visiting some of our amazing repeat customers. We truly love doing activities like this and seeing how much joy our animals bring to everyone.

If you snapped any pictures, please be sure to tag us—we’d love to see them! And if you enjoyed your visit, we always appreciate any reviews or shares to help spread the word. It truly means so much to a small business like ours, and we just want to keep spreading the joy 🐰🐮✨

3 Days Until Spring on the Farm!

Our Spring Farm Prep Countdown is almost complete! As the weather warms up, one of the most important things we focus on is re-preparing our animals for visitors.**

During the cold winter months, many of our animals prefer to stick close together and spend most of their time relaxing in their herds. Because of this, we typically limit visitor interaction during the colder season to make sure both people and animals stay safe and comfortable.

As spring approaches, we begin working with our animals again to help them refresh their manners and interactions with people. Just like anything else, social skills need a little practice after a quiet winter!

Part of this process also includes re-evaluating each animal to make sure they still enjoy being part of our visitor programs. We never force our animals to interact with guests. Checking in on them regularly allows us to adjust our programs so every animal remains happy, comfortable, and confident.

Playing and cuddling with the animals is one of the best parts of the farm, but sometimes with everything else going on, we can’t do it all ourselves.

So if you’ve ever wanted to make friends with a goat, cow, or some of our other farm residents, we’re always happy to have extra help getting them ready for the season. Sometimes the best preparation simply means spending time with them.

Stay tuned — only a few more days until spring on the farm!

What’s a farm without a loyal dog by your side?

They may not always be the most helpful farmhands, but they’re always happy to tag along while we go about our daily chores. Whether they’re supervising, exploring, or just enjoying the fresh air, it’s nice having them with us out in the fields.

4 Days Until Spring on the Farm!

Our Spring Farm Prep Countdown continues as we get the farm ready for warmer days ahead.

Today’s focus: Deep Cleaning the Shelters.

During the winter months, many of our animals spend more time in their shelters and barns to stay warm and protected from the weather. By spring, those spaces are definitely ready for a full refresh.

When the weather improves, we take the opportunity to strip shelters completely, removing bedding, old nesting materials, and anything the animals may have dragged inside over the winter. From there we scrub and clean the floors, improve ventilation, and set up fly prevention and traps to help keep everyone comfortable as temperatures rise.

This is especially important in our pig shelters, where our pigs love to build impressive winter nests by dragging in bedding, hay, and just about anything else they can find. Needless to say, they aren’t always thrilled when we come in to clean things up during the colder months!

Fun farm fact: most of our animals won’t go to the bathroom inside their shelters. They prefer to step outside and take care of business elsewhere. Except for one species (we’re looking at you, goats).

A clean environment helps keep animals healthy, comfortable, and ready for the busy spring season ahead.

5 Days Until Spring on the Farm!

Our Spring Farm Prep Countdown continues as we tackle the bigger projects that winter doesn’t allow us to do.

Today’s focus: Farm Repairs.

Winter can be tough on a farm. Snow, ice, frozen ground, and strong winds can take a toll on fences, gates and equipment. During the colder months it can be difficult to make permanent fixes because the ground is frozen solid.

Once spring arrives and the ground begins to thaw, we take advantage of the warmer weather to tackle important repairs across the farm.

Some of our spring repair projects include:
• Retightening high-tensile fencing
• Fixing and rehanging gates
• Filling holes and leveling rough ground
• Checking electric systems
• Inspecting water lines and hydrants

These repairs help ensure that our animals stay safe, secure, and comfortable throughout the grazing season. Keeping fences strong and infrastructure in good shape is a huge part of responsible farm management.

Spring repair season may not be the most glamorous job on the farm, but it’s one of the most important.

6 Days Until Spring on the Farm!

Our Spring Farm Prep Countdown continues as we get the animals and the farm ready for warmer weather.

Today’s focus: Shearing.

Later in the spring, once temperatures are consistently warm, it’s time for one of the most satisfying jobs of the season, shearing our sheep and alpacas. We typically shear around May, making sure the weather is warm enough so no one gets chilly after their haircut.

While it may look dramatic, shearing is an important part of animal care. Removing their thick winter fleece helps keep them cool, comfortable, and healthy as temperatures begin to rise. It also prevents overheating during the hot summer months.

And of course, the fiber doesn’t go to waste! We reuse the wool in several ways around the farm. It can be used in gardening to help retain moisture and enrich soil, and recently we’ve even begun spinning some of it into yarn.

By the end of the day, our sheep and alpacas are usually feeling a lot lighter and a lot cooler heading into the warmer season.

Stay tuned tomorrow for Day 5 of our Spring Farm Prep Countdown!
