We spent our labor day weekend laboring. Much needed, cleaned the barn, weaned lambs. Sorted ewes to sell, checked eyelids for worm resistance.
Our pastures are spent, hay is expensive and our shearer has been MIA, so even though fewer lambs this year, it’s suddenly felt whelming after what seemed like a great spring!

I had a long post done but as I was about to post, my app froze and here we are now in a slightly better head space.
This Romeldale ram lamb was born last this year but is the largest now. We are trying to study Romeldale patterns so spots cover up what can be clues to what patterns they are. He’s gorgeous and fine, and chill, but he needs to find a new home.
He is knickknack x Jazinda and we have him and his friends here til Tuesday sept 15 when we take to the auction.
He is NRCC registerable. May have transport back to New England (love you Kate!)

You don’t often see this view from our northwest corner. I just finished mowing down the seed heads. It’s probably the worst the pasture has looked for overall health even though very few weeds!
We didn’t take sheep to Minnesota summer camp this year so more heads to feed. We didn’t stop feeding hay all summer, and we have missed nearly all the moisture that the rest of the state has gotten the last few months.
Is farming never not stressful?we will likely have bred/exposed Shetland ewes available in the coming months.

We don’t often sell ewe lambs but are willing to offer these three available. We have a white, and a fawn katmoget both out of Nostrano, who’s our last Vinshu son. The kat is f2 Oberon first time mom and the white is out of Lilandra, who we have kept everything she’s produced so far. She is also a Vinshu daughter, so she is double the Vinshu genetics! A rare opportunity!

We also have a black twin ewe (not pictured) that is out of UTS Bucephalus and Wp Juliana. She has twins and I’ll keep one

We had both buyers back out of our romeldale ewes and ewe lambs.
Two proven ewes and 3 ewe lambs.

They are all black based and several could carry or do carry moorit. The adult ewes, one was born black but is lighter now (Paddington blue or Guinness blue?) and the other is blue and spotted and ticking. Both adults are friendly.

I have three proven white Leicester longwool that I need to find a breeding home for. While a fiber home would be great, I think their genetics aré important enough to keep them in a breeding flock. They are all LLSBA registered. I can pm pedigrees. I’d like to them to go as a group. Two are very friendly and all 3 are mellow and good mothers.

Aaron despises hay of any sort . I remind him we could be stacking small squares in a stupid hot hay mow for hours or days on end.
