Established in 2009 to create and manage a diverse, productive homestead & provide healthy food for our community without using synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides Laura Kelly and Dan Dean established Windberry Farm in 2009 near downtown Winslow, Arkansas with a mission to provide healthy food for their community while creating a diverse, vibrant ecosystem on our hillside acreage. The

living food web beneath our feet works with the plant roots in a mutually-beneficial complex system. When provided with adequate organic matter, consistent living roots, no-till cultivation, generous mulches and moisture management, the soil not only sequester impressive amounts of carbon, but can also become less and less reliant on interventions for pest and w**d control. The plants, the pollinators, the mammal and bird populations all thrive on Windberry!

The rhythm of harvest, restaurant deliveries, more harvest & Saturday market, organizes my week.
Saturday mornings are a highlight, when I get to visit with the kind folks who make a special trip downtown to support the local vendors at our home-grown Winslow economic hub.
Denise has Arsaga’s coffee now at the Wool & Needle, Cranberry buns turned out especially nice this week, Mari bakes amazing cookies, and Eddy has produce already!
I think the Oxfords will be back from Europe, Kay will be there if you need to update your voter registration, and Julie has so many paintings for you!

~~ Fresh Basil (makes an excellent pesto with Parsley, Garlic Chives & Lemon Sorrel. Don’t skimp on the Olive Oil, and add a pinch of salt and shredded Parmesan)

I tried to focus on harvest, but alas, all the aggressive volunteer plants (aka w**ds) that have thrived in our excessively moist week continuously beckoned for attention. So harvest is light, but never fear, we are expecting a full house of vendors, and word is you can get Arsaga’s coffee at the new Wool and Needle store in the old mercantile building across the street from market. So come on down and see your town.
