Hi my friends 🩷 I’m doing a Cake 🍰 Raffle to raise funds to support a very unexpected & devastating diagnosis I received last week about my baby boy Lou. He has tumors on his liver & his spleen - it developed extraordinarily fast considering his blood work was perfect when I took him to the vet 2 months ago. He is my everything. If you’ve enjoyed Humble Bee over the years - I can tell you confidently that he is the reason I was able to make it through the hardest of seasons & gave me the strength to push through. He is my world & I am honestly devastated because the level of grief I’ve had to endure over my life, especially the last few years, is unfathomable. I don’t know what the future holds but what I do know is that I am financially struggling as I try to rebuild my life while the vet bills pile up. So, I’m doing what I can do but I’m asking for your help.
With this raffle, there will be a $300 value that you can redeem with any custom cake of your choosing. It can even be applied to a wedding cake or an intimate private cake decorating lesson if you prefer. 🩷

Michael & Buddha are incredibly important to me. They’re generous in ways most people never see because they’re humble & they’re an essential thread in the fabric of our community.

I know times are tough for everyone but I’m asking you, my people, to help them by liking the original post or even sharing it so it can gain traction. Because visibility is key & it’s something I struggle with too. The algorithm does ‼️ NOT ‼️ always work in our favor so even liking & sharing their post will be helpful.

Earlier this year I did something that was very difficult for me—I asked for help. And you showed up.

I debated whether I should say anything again because so many of you already helped us earlier this year. I don’t ever want your generosity to feel taken for granted.

But I’ve also realized that pretending everything is fine doesn’t help an independent business survive.

The truth is, running a small guitar shop in 2026 is hard. Really hard. And while your support helped us get through a very difficult beginning to the year, we still need people walking through the door, buying guitars, trading gear, telling their friends about us and choosing a small local shop when they have the option.

I love this place. I’m proud of what we’ve built here. And I want Heyday to be part of Winston-Salem for a many more years.

The most beautiful part about owning a business for me will always be the blessing of creating community through celebration.

Growing up, my mom celebrated life & the people she loved in the most sincere way. I remember how she’d make handmade baskets & photo albums to hold the most precious moments. She always expressed her love in handwritten cards with the most beautiful penmanship with glitter or confetti inevitably falling out of the card upon opening.

And despite battling cancer for 12 years, knowing her time was limited, she still always showed up. She always made time to create memories & show people she loved that they were worth celebrating.

We can’t turn back time & we certainly can’t change the past. But we can choose to move in love & sincerity. We can choose hope for a better day & attempt to believe that through moving in love that life is indeed worth the effort it takes to really LIVE it.

Despite her absence, I can’t help but be convinced that she’s in every little thing I do. In every card I write, in every cake I make. Because Tira Ann Troise was a beautifully intentional woman & anyone who was privileged enough to be on the receiving end of her heart were the lucky ones.

I’ve spent the better part of my life trying to make her proud but for some reason, lately, I find peace in knowing that being an extension of her heart is enough.

I can’t believe it’ll be 16 years soon that she’s been gone. But I try to remember that as long as I continue to put in the work to ensure my heart stays intact & that I honor what I know is ethically right…that she’ll always be here. In every thing I do, I say, & I create.

And if you’ve lost the most important person in your life - I hope you can continue to remember that too. ❤️ Thank you for continuing to choose me to celebrate your most beloved moments. Because through you, I get to keep my mamas heart alive. 🥹

It feels so good to start anew. to put my whole life into a business - every cent, every part of my heart & soul only to burn it down & start over? hands down the best thing I’ve ever decided to do.
The Humble Bee Shoppe created a space to hone my craft, to create community, & help me reshape my heart ✨ bee. is all of those things realized at their highest vibration 💙
I am so proud myself, damnit. I’d do it all again 10x over - the happiness, the hurt - if I knew this feeling of wholeness was waiting on the other side.
but I guess that’s the whole point of living - we gotta take chances despite nothing in life being a sure bet ✨ I hope you find the courage to bet on yourself 💋
