The event got it's start on The Big Island of Hawaii July 3rd, 2020 and came to life as a result of necessity during the pandemic. During the shut down, the only way to dine out was to pick up grab and go meals. SO we gathered 4 of our food truck friends, set up in a local businesses parking lot and served our community, and created a way to support ourselves during that crazy time. Our vision for
the event was built on our philosophy "Community over Competition." The event grew and grew, and when we moved back to Oregon in 2022 it had grown from 4 trucks to over 20 trucks with a huge following. When we moved back to Oregon, we knew we needed to connect with our local food truck community, as we are stronger together. We again wanted to spread our Community over Competition ideal. We spent about 6 months looking for the perfect location to host our event here in Douglas County. And when we met Lan & Ryan at Wailani Shave Ice, we immediately felt the Aloha spirit and knew it was the home for Food Truck Friday. We have been so blessed by the relationship we have made with them and by the generosity of ALL they do for the event, they truly do SO MUCH. We are excited to see how the event goes here in Douglas County.
