Dottie's Notes:
"Not every recipe stands the test of time..."
This cake started with the lightest, fluffiest batter I've ever worked with, and the Seven Minute Frosting was the real surprise. The homemade caramel syrup gave it a delicious marshmallow-like flavor that I'll definitely be using again in future recipes.

Unfortunately, despite all our best efforts, this cake turned out much drier than I had hoped. While it was a fun recipe to bring back to life, I don't think this one has earned a place on the Bake It Slow menu.

💜 Worth Saving: The Seven Minute Frosting (and its caramel syrup!) absolutely earned a second chance.

🦥 Dottie's Verdict: This cake can stay in the history books... but that frosting is definitely worth the wait. 📖💜

Dottie has officially picked the very first recipe for Baking Through History, and we're starting with a classic...

🍰 Caramel Cake

As I looked through the ingredients, I noticed something that made me smile.

This recipe calls for brands like Swans Down Cake Flour and Calumet Baking Powder—a little glimpse into the kitchens of the past.
I was even able to find the original Swans Down Cake Flour! The baking powder? Not so much. So we'll be using the closest modern equivalent while staying as true to the original recipe as possible.

This series isn't about making vintage recipes perfect.

It's about discovering if they're still Worth the Wait. 💜

Will this caramel cake earn Dottie's approval...or be left in history?

I can’t believe I forgot to post these 😭🍓🍫

Made these Strawberry Chocolate Chip Cookies for our work potluck and they were SUCH a hit. Soft, buttery centers with melty chocolate in every bite and that subtle strawberry flavor running through the dough… chef’s kiss 💋

There’s just something about fruity + chocolate that hits different.

Should these make a limited drop for Bake It Slow? 👀
