Feeding #5 for Prima Dōna (day 36 on starter).
Today I decided to move from the 1:1:1 ratio, and try the 1:2:2 ratio for starter:water:flour.
I started with 40g of starter and incorporated 80g of water and 80g of flour.
We will see how she likes this ratio. It is supposed to let me beat her less. I feel like I was starving her by being gone a lot of the day, so I decided that we would switch it up and see how that been into my schedule better.
If you have a sourdough starter, how are you feeding it? What is your ratio?
I am very curious to see how other people are doing theirs. As you know, I’m still very new to all this and still learning and I know I will make mistakes but we will get it figured out.
I tried to feed with love method, which was working but required me to feed her more often than I was able to at the moment. I am a Numbers person so I feel more disciplined using numbers, but we will see if she like likes the numbers I chose.
In the first photos, you will see how she had gone up over the night, and then the next picture you see how she had gone down because she was hungry when I woke up. This is what made me kind of try to switch what we were doing with her.
In the next photos, you will see that I measured the jar first (254g) to set the weight and then I added 40g to that jar weight which gave me up my starting measurement (254g + 40g = 294g) and then I added the 80g of water and 80g of flour which brought me to the 494g. I hope I’m not confusing anyone so I’m adding my calculations to kind of show you.
Stay tuned for more!
