Today I am making my first loaf of bread using discard from Prima Dōna.

It will actually be two mini loaves, but we will see how it turns out. This is my first time actually making my own mini loaves from scratch using sourdough discard so please be gentle and forgiving in your comments, and pray she turns out.

I will show you the finished results when she is done cooking.

Feeding #9 for Prima Dōna (day 40 on starter).

Today we just fed her but not until around 4:30ish. No drastic changing her today, just did a late feeding and that will probably be the only feeding that she needs for today.

Thank you to my helper, Mia, for all her help I truly appreciate every ounce of it!🫰🏻🫶🏻💕

We are using some discard today and baking some mini loaves of bread so I will update you on that how that turns out cross your fingers for me

Stay tuned for more!

Feeding #8 for Prima Dōna (day 39 on starter).

I forgot to post this yesterday. I did wind up feeding her twice yesterday because she was hungry hungry and I forgot to post both times so here is just a pic of her right before she went to bed for the night. Nothing exciting. She seems to be liking her new home and it seems to be a good fit right now. I will be making some goodies today with some of the discard so stay tuned for that.

Let me know if you have any questions or any suggestions on what to make with the discard

Stay tuned for more!

Feeding #6 for Prima Dōna (day 37 on starter).

Today we discarded half and fed her 80g of water and 80g of flour.

She did really good last night, she filled up the jar completely but by this morning she was already down and hungry. I am thinking it must be my temperature that is going to cause her to have two at a feedings no matter what I do. We will see. Someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong. I want her to be fed once a day but maybe it’s not what I want, Maybe it’s what she wants.

I am going to see how she looks this afternoon and we will probably have to give her another feeding. I will be back to show that. I am only going to show the feedings until I am ready to cook with her and then we will just show maybe pictures weekly report or something, but for now I will continue to show you her feedings, as I navigate through them and we get them where they should be.

Stay tuned for more!

Feeding #5 for Prima Dōna (day 36 on starter).

Today I decided to move from the 1:1:1 ratio, and try the 1:2:2 ratio for starter:water:flour.

I started with 40g of starter and incorporated 80g of water and 80g of flour.

We will see how she likes this ratio. It is supposed to let me beat her less. I feel like I was starving her by being gone a lot of the day, so I decided that we would switch it up and see how that been into my schedule better.

If you have a sourdough starter, how are you feeding it? What is your ratio?
I am very curious to see how other people are doing theirs. As you know, I’m still very new to all this and still learning and I know I will make mistakes but we will get it figured out.

I tried to feed with love method, which was working but required me to feed her more often than I was able to at the moment. I am a Numbers person so I feel more disciplined using numbers, but we will see if she like likes the numbers I chose.

In the first photos, you will see how she had gone up over the night, and then the next picture you see how she had gone down because she was hungry when I woke up. This is what made me kind of try to switch what we were doing with her.
In the next photos, you will see that I measured the jar first (254g) to set the weight and then I added 40g to that jar weight which gave me up my starting measurement (254g + 40g = 294g) and then I added the 80g of water and 80g of flour which brought me to the 494g. I hope I’m not confusing anyone so I’m adding my calculations to kind of show you.

Stay tuned for more!

Feeding #4 for Prima Dōna (day 35 on starter).

So I had to leave early this morning and I noticed that Prima Dōna needed to be fed, but I didn’t have time to feed her this morning so I didn’t get back until late this evening and by the time I got back home she was STARVING!!

I wound up discarding half of her and feeding her. I didn’t get a video of that today, but I did get my new spatula, new food scale, and some new covers for her in today which I have pictures below. If you were interested in any of the items I can give you links to them in the comments.

I think I am going to have to feed her twice a day for now until she gets readjusted, but what do I know! I’m just winging it at this point so we will see how it goes. I’m going to feed her again in the morning so I’ll come back and share with you how she did overnight.

If you check out my stories, here, you will see me talking a little bit more about her feeding today. Hope everyone has a great night. See you again in the morning.
