A tribute to Lucy, my first chicken. Ten years ago today! This stunning Blue Laced Wyandotte hen found her way into my heart at a farm auction. I had no idea what I was getting into back then. Lucy has watched me grow, learn, and tolerate my epic failures and many successes. She is the matriarch of my flock and has single-handedly raised almost every chick I've bought and given her. Ten years later, we have a 50+ strong flock living our best chicken life together. She is not 'just a chicken'. 🩷

Mulberry madness has hit! Don't freak out if your eggs resemble purple orbs. We've got a mulberry forest and our hens are having a daily berry bash, resulting in purple feet and, yep, purple poo and eggs too. 😅 The berries are so sweet and delicious though.
