Update for the weekend of October 9, 10, 11, and beyond:
**First and foremost, there is no sourdough from Second Breakfast Bakery this weekend! She had something come up this week, but she will be back to baking next week! Be sure to check out her weekly opportunities for preordering.

We are open and we have lots of yummy food items in the farmstand! I harvested some peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant from the greenhouse. We also have a bunch of carrots and red beets from the field. We have locally sourced potatoes, sweet potatoes, and onions. I plan on harvesting more tomatoes and a few green beans on Saturday.
Eggs are limited! Our flock has slowed down significantly. We are trying to get them jump started but nothing is helping yet. It will! But for now we’re only getting about 6-7 dozen a day and they go fast. Hang with us, they should turn around!
But the most exciting part is…. CHICKEN! We have a fresh batch of pasture raised, organic fed chicken processed and ready for your kitchen (or freezer!) I’ll be posting more about our chicken soon but in the meantime, we have the freezer stocked up with whole and half birds, as well as packages of boneless skinless breasts, leg quarters, wings, and feet. We work so hard raising these birds right, so we sure appreciate you guys supporting our little chicken venture. This is an income stream we rely on through the winter to limp the business along in the off season so thank you for grabbing some chicken from us instead of the store!

With the season slowing down a bit, she is offering preorders to be picked up at either her place in Mongo, or here at the farmstand. See her posts each week for the offerings and let either one of us know what you’d like and where you’d like to pick up!
She will bake a little extra for the stand, but preordering would be very helpful!

9/20- Let’s talk preorders! Let us know by Tuesday morning for Thursday pickup and Wednesday morning for Friday pickup we can bake for you. Pickup is Thursday at our house in Mongo or on Friday at Soil Shepherd Farm. Please let me know what location you’d like when ordering. We accept cash and Venmo.

Update for the weekend of Sept 9/18, 9/19, 9/20-
There might be a nip in the air, it’s still summer here on the farm!!!! We are stocked up with:
Fresh eggs
Whole chickens
Lots of beautiful tomatoes
Green beans (possibly the last of them!)
Seedless Watermelons (definitely the last of them!)
Red beets
Peppers of all kinds (bells, italian roasters, little lunchbox snackers, jalepenos, poblanos)
Fresh salsa!!!! It’s made with all of our garden goodies and it’s REALLY GOOD!!!!

We also have Second Breakfast Bakery here with freshly baked sourdough bread, brown sugar cookies, and her incredibly fudgey brownies.

I’m writing this Friday at 5:30 pm, all of the above is stocked and ready to go. I’m out of time tonight, but in the morning I plan on trying to wrangle up some cucumbers, zucchini, eggplant, more peppers, and possibly more carrots. I also really want to pick some flowers before they peter out. I will post again Saturday afternoon with what I was able to get done. But come anytime if you’re interested in the list up above!

Thursday 9/17- Second Breakfast Bakery has their bread stand in Mongo stocked up with fresh bread! Brave the rain and go get something delicious!

9/17- Whoa! This rain! The bread stand in Mongo is stocked, and in an effort to keep things dry, preorders are on the third shelf and everything else is on the second. We have Original, Everything Bagel Seasoning, Olive Za’atar, and Cinnamon Walnut loaves. Olive za’atar and chili oil focaccia. Brownies and brown sugar cookies. Come get some!

Update for Sunday 9/13 and beyond…
Remember when I said that the tomatoes were slowing down? Well they changed their minds, and we are rocking and rolling with tomatoes thanks to this heat!!!!! Remember when I said the green beans were slowing down? Well I’m a liar because I picked almost 20 pounds yesterday!! So…
We are fully stocked today (and all week!) with LOTS of tomatoes, peppers, green beans, seedless watermelons, eggs, whole chickens, red beets, and more.
We also have tons of sourdough bread and cookies from Second Breakfast Bakery. Thank you all for stopping and come over anytime to stock up on all these goodies!

Update for 9/12 and beyond…
We might be nearing fall but we still have the last bits of summer bounty to enjoy! We have the farmstand stocked up with our famous seedless watermelons, fresh eggs, whole chickens, LOTS of beautiful peppers including the italian roasting peppers that we all love so much, red beets, carrots, and tons of lovely ripe tomatoes. I have a few green beans, zucchini, cucumbers, and eggplant to harvest today as well.
Second Breakfast Bakery is here with freshly baked sourdough boules in several flavors, and really good fudgey brownies and Hootie Creek cookies.

It’s all delicious and feels like the end will be here before we know it, so be sure to stop by and grab something for dinner!

Just a reminder that all the eggs, chicken, and veggies you see were grown and harvested by us, right here on the farm where you pull in to buy it. This is as farm-to-table fresh as you can get! This is a dream come true to have people stop by and support us, so thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!!!!!!!! 🥰

Friday 9/11- We are stocked up in the farmstand with *some* eggs, whole chickens, PLENTY of beautiful tomatoes, and lots of freshly baked bread and treats from Second Breakfast Bakery. I have a bunch of peppers picked that I will get out there this morning, and I’ll try to grab more watermelons before I set off for Fort Wayne deliveries. There aren’t many green beans left but I’ll pick what’s there this evening when I get home, and I’ll pack today’s eggs tonight as well. Stop over anytime!

9/11- We just stocked up Soil Shepherd Farm with pepperoni mozzarella, caraway rye, and original loaves! Hootie creek cookies and brownies are back this weekend too! Come get some!
