About Our Program
Welcome!
We strongly believe in quality over quantity and that between the Simmental & the Herefords, we have the perfect cross for you and your needs. We are offering versatility and function. Cross them on some good Angus cows and you won’t be disappointed! They calve easy, wean heavy and perform in the feedlot. All of the Simmental are polled, and we have both horned and polled Herefords. We have a page for the Herefords as well under Schock Polled Hereford Co.
Our breeding and management decision are focused on making exceptional cows, which in turn make great bulls. These bull’s mothers are deep bodied, easy fleshing, docile, and have exceptional udders. They have great maternal instincts as well as being structurally sound. They breed back every year or they go to the sale barn, no exceptions. Breeding to balanced, high performance cattle with superior carcass traits that perform in the feedlot will payoff time and time again.
This year was a challenging one. The lack of moisture made the pastures dry up quick. That caused a shortage of grass and hay. Our cows grazed all summer on the dry land grass with Salt, VitaFerm mineral and Sweet Pro Lick tubs in late summer. Our calves are bred to perform and they don’t get any creep feed! These less than favorable conditions we were handed this year makes easy fleshing ability a must. Once weaned the bulls get fed a ration of corn & canola pellets as well as free choice hay. They are all in good condition and have not been pushed which will help increase their longevity. Being young producers we are excited about our program and what the future has to offer.
