Bug free collards in June?! The netting really does work 🤓

In general we go for the easiest solution, and typically this is simply not growing crops that need special attention. But last year we put big netting up on the sides of our tunnels and my goodness it has been 🔥

We bought the netting 10+ years ago to use in the field but quickly decided that was not something we wanted to manage so it sat for a few years and now it is living its best life. We are professional re-purposers.

Rob hills potatoes every couple weeks until they flower, then we seed buckwheat in between rows. Hilling keeps the weeds down and increases yield, buckwheat offers pollinators a snack and builds soil health.

Farming is a dance. Sometimes we waltz, sometimes we trip over our feet. But we’re always trying our best for you and Mother Earth!

It’s been hot and so so dry - cloud cover is welcome today and fingers crossed any of this rain hits us 🤞 and that we get more soon! A sprinkle will help with the dust but we need a good soak to re-wet the soil and then another one to let the plants absorb it.

This block is zucchini, paste tomatoes, and sweet peppers!

If I ever open a restaurant I will serve breakfast sandwiches and soup. Ramen is my favorite soup right now.

Homemade ramen:
- Homemade pork broth made from leftover pork chop bones and so many herbs
- spaghetti (‘cause use what you have)
- scallion
- sautéed radish greens
- red onion
- quick pickled radish with black pepper, fresh ginger, scallion, cilantro, garlic, rice vinegar, and sugar
- dash of soy sauce and hot sauce into the bowl
- garlic obviously, lots of garlic
