On A Lark Farm is truly a gem for any recreational equestrian seeking to enjoy the benefits of the horse-centric community of Woodside. The location is unbeatable, providing direct access to the Woodside trail system, Wunderlich Park, and even the beautiful large arena at Chapparal Stables across the street. As a multi-disciplinary rider, I thoroughly enjoy having access to everything I need to be able to keep me and my horse engaged on the miles of trails and tuned up for flat work in the arena. There is also a round pen conveniently on the property to incorporate ground work and other exercises if I don't have time for a full ride.
Not only are the paddocks spacious, especially for the Bay Area, there is an open turn-out area that includes green grass (during the rainy months) and varied terrain to allow my horse to be able to stretch her legs and enjoy being a horse. The barn is clean and well-maintained and the staff is accommodating and friendly.
There is a friendly, relaxed community of boarders at On A Lark Farm, all committed to enjoying their relationship with their horse in a beautiful and peaceful environment. Despite the moderate number of boarders, it is often quiet and I have the place to myself, even on the weekends. However, there is usually a group of riders to trail ride with any morning of the week, so there is a variety of options depending on whether you desire to ride socially or solo.
I'm grateful to have found such a positive, simple, and compassionate barn to board my horse. I definitely recommend On A Lark Farm if you're looking for a relaxing, beautiful barn as a retreat for you and your horse.
