My friends, Donald Weston and Jen Pahl, who should still be experiencing the "honeymoon stage" of their marriage, are bracing themselves for the fight of their lives.

Donald and Jen, who have known each other since childhood, both traveled some rocky roads before they realized their paths back toward each other, the home and the farm that they have built together, literally.

They married in the spring of 2025, on the farm, in a ceremony that joined the two best friends and Donald's son, "Little Donald" as a new family.

Fast forward to Spring 2026, just a few weeks ago, to Donald's diagnosis of Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer (at 36 years old). Jen has dropped everything to be by his side while family & friends divi up the farm chores and animal husbandry responsibilities. These two people, strike that, their entire family, is the kindest, most selfless group of people I have ever met. Please find a way to support them through this, even if you don't know them personally. Donate to the gofundme, or visit Pahl's Hogs and Goats at weekend Farmer's Markets. If you're local, stop by Granite Presbyterian Church Wednesday 4pm-7pm for their Food Truck Night. Pahl's Farm will be selling plants and pork there. Keep an eye out for fundraising nights at Oscar’s Alehouse Woodstock and other local restaurants. I visited Donald and Jen last night and they are both extremely humbled by the outpouring of support from their community and beyond. Please keep the love flowing inward.

Today was OPENING DAY at Playtime Pastures Farm for spring riding lessons. All riders and horses were eager to get back into work! (And the pink sparkly saddle pad is the obvious favorite).
