We are so happy to share our new logo for the Picture of Nectar Homestead ❤️ It was beautifully hand crafted by the very talented artist her cut paper and hand painted works of art are one of a kind and I always knew she was the one who we would want to create this for us. We are so overjoyed with how it turned out. Thank you so much Valisa!

First outdoor garden harvest, overwintered spinach! It was the sweetest spinach it green for that matter I’ve ever tasted. It was like eating candy. Even with the coldest winter in half a decade we still had things survive, just like us.

Put the bat house up right before the big snow. We learned the best location for a bat box is south facing with lots of light and facing water. The back of our garage couldn’t be a more perfect spot. It overlooks our fen. Fens are minerotrophic peatlands, usually fed by mineral-rich surface water or groundwater. This will provide the bats with lots of food as they can consume up to 600 mosquitoes in a single night. We are overrun by them so this will be a very symbiotic relationship with the bats and Picture of Nectar Homestead. You also must have an existing bat population in your area which we are grateful to have 🦇

Beautifully colored eggs all unique and perfect in their own ways. Nature is so diverse and it expresses itself in so many ways. The more diverse we are the more healthy we are. Our lands and peoples differences are what makes us stronger.

Harvest day is always a good day. I just love how the trays look all full and bushy, a mini food forest. These are green sprouting peas and broccoli. Perfect for a stir fry or in your morning smoothie. I basically eat them on every single thing. There is nothing I’ve found that isn’t enhanced by them. So grateful to grow these little guys. 🙏

Some of the first snow of the season. It’s like an old friend, comforting and familiar. I just love how red barns look all covered with blue crystals of snow. The chickens are all warm and cozy inside while we just enjoy the peaceful quiet.
