Both are lifelong residents of Salem County. John grew up hunting wild pheasants and quail on the area family farms with his prized Brittany Spaniel, Duchess. In the late seventies and early eighties, it was becoming apparent that there was a need for land dedicated exclusively to wildlife management and hunting. Game Creek Hunting Farms was born. We got a message a few weeks back from one of our customer’s wives. Her husband bought one of our amazing what we called “oops” puppies! Our Chocco (shorthair) broke into his “girlfriend’s” kennel while we were on vacation and of course Jade (setter) had a litter of beautiful pups a couple of months later on Halloween. Needless to say they are ALL amazing hunters!🐾
Our friend from Long Island sadly passed from cancer this year (too young, I might add). He loved this dog! Luckily, he did get a couple of years hunting over his best friend. His family loves this dog and I think he may even be famous among the locals up there!💙🐾

Everything is shaping up and the cover is looking good. Derek does an awesome job of taking great care to make sure each farm is ready when the season rolls around. The work doesn't stop around here. There is always something to do whether we are in-season or not!

Happy 70th birthday to this AMAZING man! So many photos over the years, so many memories over the years, so much work, laughs, birds moved, crops planted and attended to, customers stories and hand shakes, things built and maintained, sought after for advice for life stuff, weddings performed ( except when he had a bought with vertigo… Lance!) and just his friendship and his willingness to get dogs, kids and grown ups of ALL ages started in the hunting sport!

The cover you walk through in November starts with days like this in June – seed in the ground, rows laid out, and a lot of faith in good weather and hard work. This isn’t glamorous, but we love it just as much as a good flush and a solid point.

Every pass of the tractor is done with the best fall hunting experience in mind: your dog, your shot, and your memories in these fields. We’re already thinking about the mornings you’ll spend here when the air turns crisp and the birds start flying.

Thanks for being part of this with us. We’ll keep planting – you just get your dogs ready.

When you come see us in the fall you are hunting behind good dogs in carefully planned, well-groomed cover.

What most people don’t see is that the work starts not long after the season ends. This isn’t just a seasonal job for us — it’s a year-round labor of love. It’s our way of life.
